Good Start to a New Series
I decided to buy this book because of MJD's other books. Plus the fact that I have enjoyed the humor of her short stories since I stumbled on the first one in the 'Wicked Women' book. Though not as gripping as the Wyndham werewolves or Betsy, Sinclair, et al in the Undead series, Fred is quite the heroine as a disgruntled hybrid human/mermaid. Her life on how she copes with the lunacies of Homo sapiens norms is very interesting and her friend Jonas is quite a hoot. Reading this book definitely made me want to buy the next one. I want to know what happens with Thomas, Artur, Sam, Moon, Barb etc. And, if you are an avid, selective reader who finds it difficult enough to get books that are 'keepers', MJD does not disappoint.I decided to buy this book because of MJD's other books. Maryjanice Davidson does it again!
I had read the other Fred the mermaid book, as well as many other books by this author, and loved it. When I found out that there was a sequel, I had to have it. I'm pleased to say that the sequel more than lived up to the original. Maryjanice Davidson has such a great, quirky sense of humor. I like how her characters have depth and are not always what you would expect. I also like the fact that although there are some great sex scenes, they are not the focus of the book. Her books actually have a plot. And while there are some fantasy characters in her books, they are made believable by the down to earth way she has portrayed them. I read this book without stopping, and can't wait for the next book about Fred and her friends and family. If you are looking for an entertaining ... knew if was a sequal to another fish story i read. I like everything this author writes. I was a nice light story to take to my vacation.

I loved this book. I was a great sequel to Swimming with the Fishes. MaryJanice Davidson is a great, humorous author!
