Excellent tour guide for me!
My husband and I just returned from a week long vacation to Maui. I purchased this book in advance of the trip, and I admit, it was hard for me to follow at first. But then we arrived on the island, and everything in this book is right on target. I can't imagine how else they could have packed this much information in a single volume. Every corner of the island was expertly described and rated, plus we used Maui Revealed as the guide to picking our activities while we were there. This was the first vacation of my life that my husband had nothing to complain about! :-) This book is a softcover but has fold-put flaps like a dustjacket that contain quick reference maps, beach photos/names, and page references for each. We used the maps daily, then I turned to the page referenced for ... My husband and I just returned from a week long vacation to Maui. For example, we found the Nakalele Blowhole because I read each direction on page 57: "Exactly 1/2 mile past the 38 mile marker..." It was an awesome natural phenomenon that was not visible form the road and we would not have found it except for these directions! I highly recommend this book for the visitor to Maui - first-timer or seasoned vacationer. Note: we also found two other guides helpful in different ways: Maui Mile by Mile and Top Maui Restaurants. Have fun!

Irresponsible guide to Maui
My main gripe is they didn't update it in 2007 and the descriptions are overly exaggerated. We weren't impressed at all. The content is sappily melodramatic and pretentious and the places it lists were overrun with tourists. They should warn readers that two tourists were blown off the Nakahele Blowhole ledge and into the water recently. It can be viewed from a trail above. Don't go right up to the gusher like they show in the book. Beware of rogue waves! It's better viewed from a distance. A Must Have Hawaiian Vacation Book!
I wish I would have had this book the first time I went to Maui, the author gives excellent advice and reccomendations. When I travel to the other Hawaiian islands I will be purchasing this authors other books in this series.

maui revealed
good pictures and well written. has some helpful information that is easier to find than looking on the internet. nice maps and information about the weather.

Great Help
A friend recommended this book and I owe him a debt of gratitude. Great descriptions and should show to very helpful on my upcoming trip to Maui.
