ICONIC HORROR MOVIE!
The original FRIDAY THE 13TH led to nine sequels, and a remake. Now that is what I call a success. The idea might have well started because of John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN released just two years earlier, but I would have to disagree that FRIDAY THE 13TH is HALLOWEEN done all over again. This movie has gruesome murders unlike HALLOWEEN which shows little blood, and has fewer killings which are not nearly as violent. HALLOWEEN II which followed in 1981 was designed to be more simular to the FRIDAY THE 13TH type of slasher films instead of the original HALLOWEEN. Audiences were expecting more when it came to slasher films now. The eerie Camp Crystal Lake was filmed in Blairstown New Jersey, and it makes for the perfect setting for an eerie location. According to the legend a child named Jason Voorhees was neglected by camp counselors, and drowned in the lake. Two counselors were then mysteriously murdered a year later in 1958. It became known around town as Camp Blood, and remained closed until 1980. No one suspects there is a killer loose who is not pleased with reopening the camp. In this first film it is a mystery as to who the killer is for people who have not seen it. Creative effort went into filming the murder sequences, and the soundtrack is terrific. A bizarre whispering sound (Ki Ki Ki Ma Ma Ma) is heard throughout the film, and it really adds tention to the scenes. This movie can only be accused of inspiring several imitators. Several other slasher films tried to cash in on the success of this movie, and most have been forgotten for not being nearly as good. FRIDAY THE 13TH movies made more money in return than what it cost to make them which explains for the never ending sequels. A better job could not have been done considering that several of the films were low extremely budget, and had a shooting schedule of about three to four weeks. Still most reviews never bothered to mention anything positive, and failed to understand that the purpose of these films was to please their target audience. New generations who are watching these movies for the first time can only imagine what it must have been like to see them in the theatre with a crowd. Audiences were screaming, and cheering. I consider the first four movies in this franchise to be the most effective in terms of shock, and suspense. It is foolish to compare FRIDAY THE 13TH to horror films which are not a part of the slasher genre. This franchise continues to inspire, and stand the test of time.

Friday the 13th Part 1 Uncut Blu-ray
This is exactly what a true friday the 13th fan dream of getting for the rest of films. This movie has both The original Mono and Dolby 5.1 True Hd soundtrack. The film has been given a crystal clear 1080p Full HD Transfer and is the Uncut edition. That alone is truly amazing but on top of that it´s also featuring a commentary track with director Sean S. Cunningham and cast and crew. Also is including is Secret Galore Behind the gore were tom savini explains the making of the death scenes and some other great special features. The only thing i can complain about is the new artowork for the cover but i would´ve rather have the original artwork as a true purist. Unfortunately the part 2 and 3 did not have the same treatment as this one, though the part 2 had a great picture transfer but part ... I hope that Paramount will get their act together and relase part 4-8 on blu-ray also and maybe release a boxset also.

not happy
1st don't put 2009 in the discription of the item i own every friday the 13th the only one i dont have is the newest one from 2009............so after waiting two weeks or more and finally got it to find out i already own it so i purchased it again and gotta wait..........
