Developed by the team behind the critically acclaimed games MadWorld, Infinite Space, and Bayonetta, and directed by the creator of the Resident Evil series, Vanquish is a fast-paced 3D shooter set in a space station orbiting near-future Earth. With the world's resources dwindling rapidly, the United States sought to solve its energy woes by building a space station to harness solar power. But a nationalistic military group stages a successful coup in Russia, and subsequently attacks and captures the U.S. space station. The group, known as the Order of the Russia Star, then diverts the station's stored solar energy into a blast wave that demolishes San Francisco. With New York next to be destroyed, the United States springs into action, sending a team of space-based special operations forces and Marines to assist the few remaining soldiers aboard the station. Players join the rescue effort as Sam Gideon, a young researcher from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), who is officially on the team to test out the Agency's new Augmented Reaction Suit (ARS), but is also secretly tasked with tracking down the designer of the space station, Dr. Francis Candide.<br><br>The ARS turns Gideon into something of a hybrid of Iron Man and RoboCop, with powerful armor, tremendous mobility due to jet thrusters on each of his arms and legs, massive firepower thanks to a system that can replicate any weapon he finds, and a special "AR" mode that allows for slow-motion attacks and evasion during periods of extreme duress. Players can store three weapons at a time, and the ARS also enhances Gideon's strength, allowing him to unleash deadly melee attacks at close range. He is not invincible, however, as the ARS can only boost for a short duration before it requires a cooling down period, so gamers are best advised to make use of Vanquish's sticky cover system during vulnerable moments. The game's environments were designed to be massive and interactive, with destructible elements, fights between background characters, and enough space for Gideon to comfortably boost, and Vanquish features a scoring mechanic engineered to dissuade over reliance on any one style of play by awarding multipliers for stringing together boosts, melee attacks, and slow-motion "AR" mode combat.

    Most innovative 3rd person shooter on the XBox 360!

    This is a very good and fast paced 3rd person shooter with great graphics and innovative gameplay. Multiple difficulty levels and achievements generate lots of replay value. There's a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of the game things will come naturally. The actual gameplay time is about 4-5 hours, but because of the learning curve you'll likely spend more than that playing the game. Lastly, the story is a bit cliched, but it could be worse. Overall, I still think this is an excellent game that everyone should own or at least rent. When it comes to 3rd person shooters, the mechanics and pace of this game rival big name games like Gears of War. If the story had been just a little more complex I think this would have been on more people's radars.

    Great for those who replay games

    This is a fun game that is truly unique and insane. Think Gears of War, only more crazy and over the top. Watch some game footage, and you will know if this is your kind of game. If you liked Bayonetta, you will be a fan of this. HOWEVER, this game has no multiplayer and is over fairly quickly (you will be done somewhere between 4 to 10 hours, depending how good you are). Thus, don't buy this game is you want to play online or if you don't like to play games over. Also, the plot is only ok. HOWEVER, if you want intense action that is amazing to be played over and over, get this game.

    Vanquish (xbox360) - Git Sum

    This game is great, I really enjoy the fast paced game play and how the battle/action system works. The controls are easy enough to master quickly and everything your able to do is fluid not choppy. The only draw back is the lack of multiplayer since I think it would be great to battle it out online against real opponents.

    Vanquish - sleeper hit of 2010

    I thoroughly recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of games like Gears of War. The action is very fast, the graphics are great, and the gameplay is sublime. The only downside to the game is that it gets very repetitive in my opinion. The gameplay is so good though, that you may not care. A complete playthrough of the game should last 6-7 hours on normal difficulty. There are challenge modes and leaderboards to keep you coming back for more.

    My heart pounds playing this one

    There is only one word that i can describe the game Vanquish with,and thats SICK! This game does absolutely everything right to give the player a sense of being one bad ass momajamma. For what it is,an action game at heart the pace never lets up.The weapons are great with some being over the top with power.The controls are as smooth as silk.The game just responds as fast as the action comes at you with NO! and i mean NO slow down in frame rate. Huge boss battles at every corner and alot of choice on how to dispose your enemy.There are even mele attacks that are different depending on what weapon you are currently holding.Theres even button time events that have to be pulled off with timing. I can sit here for days writting this review,but i will just say to anyone thinking of picking ...
