  • Call of Duty: World at War (Wii)

First-person shooter game. Impressive controls, exciting multiplayer, and a dramatic campaign make Call of Duty: World at War a great success. Well-tuned weapons make firefights intense. Add in the engaging multiplayer system and you've got one of the best shooters available for the Wii. In the campaign, you split time between two soldiers in two offensive theaters: the Russian push out of their homeland and into the heart of Germany and the American struggle to obtain the Pacific islands from the Japanese. Each soldier's journey begins at a low point. Weaponless and surrounded by the enemy. The first few levels are difficult as you and your fellow soldiers try to gain a foothold for your country. Later levels have a sense of hard-won momentum as you fight bigger battles and push ...

  • World at War still has on-line following (and Kiefer's voice)...

I bought Call of Duty: World At War for the Wii because I'm an older gamer (44) who just got back into first person shooters marketplace in late 2010 after a long hiatus (remember Goldeneye 007 for the N64?). After getting the new Goldeneye for the Wii in December I added Call of Duty: Black Ops (with head set) in March. That game has the best graphics and sounds of all Call of Duty Wii games but is by far the most difficult -- difficult to the point of frustration. I added the Wii's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex Edition in May and thoroughly enjoy the on-line game play (I don't have time to play the actual adventures of any of these games, so this review is ONLY about on-line multi-player game play.) World at War was released in 2008 but still has enough of a following to have a ...

  • Hard at first, then a lot of fun

Rented this from blockbuster first. At first, tried the zapper control scheme (we have two nyko perfect shot guns) and got frustrated at how hard the game was to play this way. Then next day we tried the default control scheme and learned to really appreciate the game. The campaign is exciting, online play is fun and has lots of options. The only con I can think of is that the second player isn't as involved in the game as the first, but it's hard to think of a way this could be better. So in short, at first this game can seem really hard (especially if you are used to the more 'casual' wii games or on-rails shooters) but once you get used to it and find the right control scheme it is a lot of fun. Can't wait for the game to get here so we can continue playing.

  • Call of Duty: WAW. Great FPS for the Wii.

I love the smell of Molotov Cocktails in the morning...er, um. I mean, if you liked the other Call of Duty games, you're pretty much guaranteed to enjoy this one. World at War is a great first person shooter for the Wii gaming system. The game play bounces from Japanese to Russian layouts, and there is a good variety of weapons and terrain to engage in fierce WWII combat. It takes a little while to get comfortable with the controls, and button layout, but after getting accustomed to it, I actually prefer the Wii controller layout to any other system controls. The graphics are good... Alright, we all know the graphics on the Wii aren't as sharp or defined as other consoles, but the truth is, it doesn't matter all that much to me and it doesn't take away from ...

  • Call of Duty: Challenging, but too much profanity

We have Call of Duty 3 and my husband has went through the game about 5 times. He saw this game on ebay and in comparison to store prices was a pretty good deal. The game is a little harder than the previous version, which is good, but the language is the same. In our opinion there is too much unnecessary profanity. This probably wouldn't be a problem for some people, but we have kids and try to expose them to as little bad language as possible. Our solution was to either mute it or turn the volume really low if he needed to hear what was being said. A really easy fix. Even with it being slightly harder, he beat the whole game in about a week and a half (approximately 15 hours of play, he didn't play every day and only about an hour or so on days he did play). As I am typing this my ...
