  • Best amps on the market, hands down. RIPs can only be found with JL Audio

I've had this amplifier for several years now and it's currently installed in it's third vehicle. You absolutely can not beat a JL Audio Slash amp with RIPs technology, and now that the originals are cheap in price its the only way to go. Lets's face it, the only way to get max power from most amps and read the fine print, is if you have 14.4V from the battery which is nearly impossible after running everything the battery has to run, have 4 volt preamps from a head unit, and maybe a 2 ohm load. With the JL amp, you only need 11V from the battery and the power from the amp does not fluctuate when battery voltages vary, and it's also stable from 1.5 to 4 ohms, most amps lose half their power when you double the ohm settings. You can not go wrong with this amp, ...

  • JL Audio 500/5 Car Audio Amplifier

Sold my old Soundstream Reference 405 and purchased this. THOUGHT it would be an upgrade. SQ wise, it's not. The channel seperation is average, but it produces a lot of power for the front ans subs. Just the right amount for the rears. I miss my Reference 405 though. Definately more powerful than the old SS, but not as 'Musical' if that makes sense. Do yourself a favor and find an old SS Continuum or 705. Don't pay full retail price for a 500/5.

  • This is an amp That does everything

I was looking for a consolidated unit to power all my speakers and a sub for my e36 m3. I did not have a lot of room, nor did I want to run lots of wires. JL 500/5 was the clear choice. JL sound quality is amazing. I am not interested in super loud bass that overpowers my music. I want clean sound that can bump if I want it to. Thats what this amp delivers. Clear balanced sound through your aftermarket speakers. There is a difference when I listen to music through this amplifier compared to the stock. On a scale of 1 to 10, the stock speakers on my m3 would rate at a 2 and the JL a solid 10. It can get as loud as your eardrums can stand, without sacrificing sound clarity. What I really like about this amp is the sound is very rich. It has a lot of settings on the amp to fine tune ...

  • Quality... As expected. It comes at a price though

This is a very high quality amplifier. I just installed two of them powering two Rockford T112D2 subs. The variable impedance tolerance is a really nice feature, though I feel that if it were to be set differently (such as 1000w rms @ 2ohms vs 500rms @ 4 ohms...) then this would be a much more useful amp. 3rd party ratings already place it around 600rms in a few tests. The distortion is low, but an MB Quart amp rated at the exact same specs is about 1/3 the price. I give it 5/5 for the quality, it of course does what it's supposed to and very well at that, but I feel like the price paid is really for the brand name. I'd say buy this if you feel the need to show off your amp all the time... but you can get equal specs and quality for less $$$ elsewhere. If you have the cash, you ...

  • JL Audio 500/1 Class D Sub Amp

I wanted an amp that I knew could handle the power, no matter what I wanted to run to it in listening range. I am running two JL W6v2s in a SUV (so no backseats between the trunk and cab). They are both powered to the point where it hurts my ears and the amp is about 50% gain. My amps are under the seats and after listening to the point where my Alpine MRP-F450 channel overheats into protect mode, the 500/1 is still cool to the touch. Sounds amazing, I had the subs hooked up to my old Jensen amp before buying this. Not only was the volume and power drastically improved, but the quality of sound was as well and even more than I could expect. I recommend this amp to anyone who can afford it. I've done A/B comparisons with my friends 1200w Insignia amp and can clearly hear the difference ...
