The fighting game series' first true sequel in three console generations, Street Fighter IV re-creates the classic characters, settings, and time-tested 2D fighting mechanics, at resolutions and frame rates that make use of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 potential. Favorite characters and backdrops, once depicted in 16-bit pixels, appear as colorful, hand-drawn illustrations brought to life in full, fluid 3D. The game introduces a slew of new special attacks, but the series' basic moves are at the heart of the six-button control scheme. A challenging new Focus Attack system can allow a low-health fighter to absorb an attack and then unleash a powerful counterattack, strong enough to grab an unexpected victory with a last-moment turnaround.<br><br>Street Fighter IV follows Street Fighter II in the series narrative, taking place before the events of Street Fighter III. Over two dozen characters are available for play, including core heroes and villains from Street Fighter II such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-li, and M. Bison. There are also series newcomers, such as Gouken, the trainer of Ryu and Ken; C. Viper, a government agent with moves as tight as her uniform; and the weapons master Seth, who can use the special moves of other characters. Home versions of Street Fighter IV also feature characters not in the arcade version of the game, including Fie Long, Dan, Gen, and Cammy, who won the most fan votes in an online poll, prior to the game's U.S. release.<br><br>The "Collector's Edition" includes a bonus Blu-ray disc featuring a 65-minute animé movie and promotional trailers, a CD soundtrack, a hint book, and a Ryu collectible figurine.

Finally America get their own special edition releases!
Before this, you'd normally expect a special or collector's edition of a video game to come out of Japan. In this storied and legendary franchise's history, the Hyper Street Fighter II Limited Edition and 3rd Strike Street Fighter III Limited Edition, both for the Japanese Playstation 2 were the benchmark. Surprisingly Japan got the short end of the stick in the new generation of video game consoles. Both the American Region 1 releases of Street Fighter IV (Xbox360 and PS3) had exclusive Collector's Editions while Japan only got a 'pre-order' DVD. Besides that, Capcom America also threw in the soundtrack, a mini strategy guide, a free DLC and also a figurine (Ryu for PS3, C.Viper for Xbox360). In fact, the US edition for the PS3 upgraded the DVD bonus movie into a Blu Ray video disc. Now ... The only thing left is to buy the official Fightstick and faceplate for your respective game consoles to solidify your status as a die-hard Street Fighter fan. As for the game, if you are the be-spoked fan, I am wasting my time describing it as you'd probably know a whole lot more from other sources than reading this review. Simply put, you probably pre-ordered multiple copies of the Collector's Edition the moment it was announced. So finally American game companies warmed up to the concept of special edition releases. With BlazBlue and pretty soon Tekken 6, the days of acquiring Japanese releases because of the extra bonuses available exclusively to that market may be over.

Maybe it's the included Blu-ray disc. Or maybe the Ryu figure. Or maybe there's a lot of hungry, die-hard PLAYSTATION 3 Street Fighter IV fans out there. Or it's really Limited. Looking around the web for the Street Fighter IV PLAYSTATION 3 Collector's Edition at places like Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, GameStop.com, Buy.com, and even Capcom's Online Store, there were no traces of pre-orders to be found. This looks like it's the first edition of Street Fighter IV games to go, from the regular and Collector's editions. Hopefully you pre-ordered yours, because it may be tough to get a hold of!!! IF YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIND THIS ONE BUY IT NOW!!!Maybe it's the included Blu-ray disc. Or maybe the Ryu figure. Street Fighter at its best!!
I don't even own a PS3 and I still bought the game (collectors edition). Watching youtube videos of the gameplay before it had been released...graphics are unbelievable. Characters look unbelievable. Everything looked unbelievable. I've been a Street Fighter fan since Street Fighter II days. This game will be the reason why I save up to buy a PS3. Pure amazement. I'd recommend this game to anyone who enjoys fighting games.I don't even own a PS3 and I still bought the game (collectors edition).
