Danish mining engineers discover a tail of a huge prehistoric monster and send it off for research where it is put in a large refrigerated room. But someone leaves the door open and the tail starts to thaw and grow into an entire monster. Reptilicus - Was this really A scary monster movie?
First off, let me start by saying I am a huge fan of old dinosaur movies. I looked forward to seeing this movie with great anticipation. Boy was I dissapointed. The monster was so very fake. The Godzilla monster in the old Japanese versions looked far more realistic. Even though they were bad enough, the man in the reptile suit was quite obvious. The story lne was very far fetched. Why would a dinosaur be in the middle of a frozen wasteland millions of years ago? Plus, we were lead to believe the creature grew from just a tail. All of this could have been overlooked if the acting was good. But, it was horrible. The bad acting scared me more than the monster did. Surely the Lamest of Giant Monsters
Reptilicus is surely not the greatest giant monster of all time. While it is an ugly, obnoxious thing that might indeed cause some trouble, he is impervious to virtually nothing and is little more than an overgrown subject of an acid trip. Nonetheless, it's an entertaining movie, and perfect for those that relish in B and C list films. Again, the acting in this movie is hardly less than awful, but for anyone that is a fan of old, terrible sci-fi horror movies, it's golden. It's your typical giant-lizard-eats-the-world plot with a small twist not often seen in movies of similar caliber. Basically, if you're looking for a classic action movie with a cast that's to die for, don't waste your time. But if you want a good laugh and are interested in those tiny films that ran undetected under ... Reptilicus is surely not the greatest giant monster of all time. Adults, Beware-Resist and run the other way on this one!
I think I remembered this movie from the nostalgic era of my childhood as better than it actually is. The first 20 minutes, or so, are really not that bad. After that, the viewer's sense of reality needs to be stretched too far to enjoy this low budget piece of... Bargain basement Sci-Fi! It ranks right up there with THE GIANT CLAW, THE GREEN SLIME and THE SLIME PEOPLE. I used to be able to laugh at this one, but now, as an adult, I just have to shake my head and resist the urge to pop this disc into the player. It really is that pathetic now... Yes, I bought it off Ebay, but now I would re-think it if I had the chance of a do-over!... I LOVE my cheap 'Reptilicus' DVD!!!
Movie played flawlessly from start to finish. Whoever owned it first took excellent care of it.

Great film for those who love monster films or a laugh
Ok so i brought this film after hearing about it on youtube (AVGN). I expected it too be bad considering when it was made, but I gave it a try. It turned out to be pretty enteraining and a laugh in places probably not all of them on purpose. One great thing about this film is the monster's name Reptilicus now thats a name for a monster. Oh did i mention the monster is a sock puppet, now if you like people being terrified by a puppet well you'll love this. I will note that if your looking for a classic Monster movie this may not be your first choice but it is a Danish film and the only recorded Danish giant monster film. So I say give it a try.
