It does work, just not very effective and became noisy after a few cycles.
Still on the first set of rechargeable batteries. I use LSD (low self discharge) AA's for lots of things and figured this was a good thing to use them in. The toy is built ok, hasn't broken yet, but it got very noisy and the cats are not really interested in it. We have one of the other ones that spins in a circle under a cover. To get them to play with that, we took the skirt off and attached ribbon to the spinning part then elevated the whole thing on a small stool so they can stand under it and chase the ribbon as it goes around the stool. With this, they just lay there and swat at it a bit, then lose interest. The speed adjustment not only slows the motion, it also elongates the pause time between movements. At high speed, they were just annoyed by it and would stand and watch it. ... Still on the first set of rechargeable batteries. Clearly our cats have a bit of ADD. Thinking about getting the one that hangs from a doorknob and using a 3M sticky to hold it on the ceiling with a long piece of ribbon, since they seem to like that.

My cat only plays with it intermittantly
I was very impressed with the quality of the product for the price. I especially like the "timer" mode where I can just push the button and walk away. It turns itself off after a couple of minutes. The feathers are the perfect enticement but perhaps if there was a bit of catnip on the string my cat would be more interested. She does not like it when her paw hits the plastic twirling "stick" and will stop playing immediately if that happens. These are the reasons I only gave the product a 3-star rating and can't say if I would recommend it. Neither of my daughter's cats were interested either.... Overall, I think this is a good product for the right kitty - perhaps one a bit younger and friskier than mine.I was very impressed with the quality of the product for the price. Stopped working after very limited use, we had it two weeks and it stopped working.
It stopped working completely after having it for two weeks. I have requested a replacement as my cats loved playing with it. If I get a working replacement I will change my review. It did make a weird cranking noise when turned on.

My cats love to play with this!
My cats love it, and since it's battery operated I can just sit back and watch their fun. This, for us, works better than the bobble balls on battery because it's easier for them to tear off the feathers of the bobble balls. With Loco Motion, you can program the motion for random and set a timer and they're good to go! This product worked so well I purchased a second one.
