    a bit of velvet and dash of lace

    I decided to buy this book after learning about magnolia pearl from an item that i bought on ebay that she designs. after i bought a pair of velvet bloomers and her designer name was attached i did a search and found her website magnoliapearl.com. I was totally amazed by her designs and fabrics, and textiles. Her creativity was a emotional boost for me since I love victorian and it gave me incentive to use what she has done with my own creativity with color, linens, lace, and velvet. I had many antique items that i have collected since I was 14 and even at that age i had a great eye for treasure not junk. I watched her videos to look in the background to see how she decorated. lol but this gave me a foundation and i was to use my creativity to bring the walls and roof on so to ...

    This book offers such an amazing insight to the design and home of Robin "Magnolia Pearl". I love her story and aesthetic!

    I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats.

    I bought this book because I have a love/hate of Magnolia Pearl clothing. I love the way it looks, it looks horribly comfortable and old fashioned. I hate how much it cost because of its popularity. Antique, shabby chic has been around forever and never really goes out of style. I was interested to see "inside" how the designer really lives. I wasn't disappointed. The interiors were dark, old and shabby chic. Combo gothic farmhouse, your great Auntie lives there kinda vibe...Some how the book left me both excited, and depressed. This look is having a revival, therefore out of budget for most. Even with the cost effective "tips". Heck with the surge of shoppers visiting our Goodwill stores in this area, I can buy new stuff for less in retail stores. ~sigh~

    Awesome book full of inspiration both for clothing and accessories to the most original home decor. I purchased for less than a magazine. I’ll treasure it for years to come! Thanks again! 5 stars

    An Ocean of Velvet...and a Mountain of lace!

    If you love Bohemian decor with a heavy emphasis on Victoriana, you will love Robin Brown's book. Some great, unconventional and unique decorating ideas, peppered with personal anecdotes and the artist's unique perspectives. Lovely, inspiring photos galore of her lush, oh so delicious interiors. The text is charmingly written and easy to digest. If you are looking for a more traditional Victorian decor, this may not be the book for you. Her style is whimsical, over the top (for some folks) and not for those who don't like the idea that 'more is more'. I got a great deal on this book..would have happily paid full price.
