IPAQ H4350/H4355 Review
I love this device, with its brilliant color screen and the attached keyboard. The H4355 realy is the first usable PDA. Plus the fact that they combine bluetooth and WiFi into one device makes it extremely convenient! You don't need to carry a large clunky smartphone when this can connect via bluetooth or even through a serial port cable on phones that allow you to tether for an internet connection. I have also used the serial port to connect to my GPS receiver. Again works with no problem. If you have a bluetooth GPS receiver you can aso connect it to that as well. My setup I use a Sanyo USB to serial converter on the phone which then plugs into the serial port of the PDA. I have also used bluetooth and WifI which both work flawlessly. I really like the software HP includes with this device as well. If your battery dies, HP backup is great at restoring the device to a backup file you can save on the SD card or you can save it in the included flash storage space on the unit itself! I should add that battery life is decent. I can get a few hours out of the thing running it with Wifi on. I also like that the battery is removable/changeable. Again I really love the keyboard. You actually can leave your laptop at home with this device! I don't understand why HP dropped this unit - seems the smartphone version of this is the only thing I can see thats equivalent. A real useful device if thats the way you choose to go, but I tend to prefer a cheap cellphone and a more expensive PDA. Hope you liked the review..

This is an outstanding device. It's one of those it just works right items. The wireless internet went right onto my router first try no big hassle like other models/brands I've tried. Having both SD AND CF slots just makes it that much better. I can use the same 1 GB SD card my camera uses and still use and access data on my older CF cards. If you need help using or adding software to this unit just google the model and check out all the info others have posted in all the forums even the ones on HP's site. Having a built in keyboard is prety cool, having bluetooth and IR is great too.This is an outstanding device. It's one of those it just works right items. Con-Limited in its 128mb ram to operate AND store programs and files. Files locked down cannot be transferred to sd cards in effort to save ram. iTunes for example, until recently would not let you transfer your bought mp3 files to the sd card. Pro-Still considered slim and sexy. Amazing 8 year old tech. 400mhz processor doesn't compare to today's video iPod but it plays video and music files smoothly, wifi and bluetooth capable, tons of software (most free) and hardware available, sd slot for nearly unlimited memory expansion. A cheap alternative to the video iPod or a versatile device with plenty of free games, productivity software, neat widgets, and hotspot access to your email and social sites, this baby will still serve. (make Skype calls, universal remote control, GPS) Some of the new netbooks are being released with just 3X (1.2 ghz) the processor power of this pocket powerhouse, new tablet umpc's get just 2X (800mhz) handhelds just 50% more.(600mhz) In short, it still offers years of service. Don't expect great connectivity to your Vista OS though. Vista really sucks. Use bluetooth to work around Vista. Original battery is good for 4 hours music playback but will peter out in an hour with wifi and/or bluetooth on so get an extended battery to triple your battery time. Things to pay attention to when shopping for one. 1 A dead backup battery means anytime power is lost ie. the main battery is removed and the charger disconnected, the unit dumps everything from it's 128mb memory. So the original programming remains but if you have not stored or backed up your new programs or files to either the sd card or another computer, they're gone. These batteries can only be replaced by taking the device apart so if you are not inclined to miniature repairs... 2 A worn screen is like smoke in your eyes. Use screen protectors available from any office store. If the previous owners did not do this the screen will show wear and nothing can be done about it short of replacing the screen, not to mention the price of the replacement screens and knowing what it is you need to order. (digitizer and LCD cannot be separated) A cracked screen means the unit is completely useless until it is replaced. 3 The battery door, main battery, and stylus are all easily replaceable, but you want to watch the quality on extended batteries and their doors. If you have the battery in place with the back door not completely sealed, the device will not turn on. 4 The speaker is not that important if you prefer using headphones, but it's nice to have functioning and I've found replacing it to be a bit more involved than even screens or backup batteries. The headphone jack is important if you want the device for media purposes. All the buttons (other than keyboard) have dedicated functions which can be reassigned, so also nice but control is available in the start menu or programs menu, even the keyboard has an on screen version. 5 Wifi and bluetooth capabilities. Without 'em you don't get to surf the web or use wireless peripheral hardware like the GPS receiver. InfraRed offers file transfer capability as well as nifty widgets and connectivity to some foldable full size keyboards so make sure yours is 100%. It doesn't offer; on board GPS, camera, accelerometer, fm radio receiver or transmitter. (Most are available as peripheral hardware.) upgradeable anything except software and main battery

I'm not a computer wiz but this product does everything and more. I keep thinking to myself...the technology in this device is still really current and would Still hold a candle to many on the market today. Hard to believe its 6 years old! A little large, but I knew that when I bought it. I have Synced Outlook and Yahoo, so everytime I plug into the cradle, All calenders and contacts are updated. Touchscreen + the versatility of a querty keypad(which this the only model I could find that had this feature, hince the size). It is not a phone, but does have Wifi for free internet. Overall, I'm Very happy w/my purchase, and still have a lot to figure out out about this new toy.I'm not a computer wiz but this product does everything and more.
