A Great Movie!
I loved this movie. It was exciting,heartfelt and had historical content. It was based on actual events which made it even better. Viggo Mortensen is an excellent actor. He absorbs the role and becomes the character. I first saw this movie on cable and found that it was a must see more than once. So I got on ebay and found it and bought it. Since then I have watched it numerous times and suggested it to many people. My kids loved it to. I also found out a little behind-the-scenes tidbit. Viggo Mortensen(lead role) formed such a bond to the horse in the film, that he purchased it immediately after filming!! You really can see that bond between man and animal in the film. It is surely worth the money to have this movie in your collection. You will laugh, cry, cheer, and applaud. ... I loved this movie. It was exciting,heartfelt and had historical content. Inspiring Movie but they should've used real mustangs
The horses in the movie they used to play Hidalgo were Quarter horses - since Mustangs are currently being slaughter and removed from US land by the hundreds, they should have used the "real" mustangs for the movie instead of putting $$$ in the pockets of horse breeders. Shame on the Producers for that. There are now more Mustangs in holding pens then there are running in the wild and thier numbers have been so drastically reduced that the limited "gene pool" will eventually cause extinction... Very sad... Giddy up!!
Love this movie!!! One of my favorites. Based on a true story. Amazing what Hidalgo did for his own kind here. I love the line of the prince saying “he is a people of the horse” and Frank Hopkins says, “so am I”. Coming from the Native American Indian he went to race with Hidalgo 3,000 through one of the toughest terrains. Sorry spoiler alert: He won! Couldn’t help it. A must see!

Favorite movie
This has always been one of my favorite movies. It is an interesting story, based on true life events. It involves a horse race across the desert, with the odds against the riders. At times the actors speak in soft voices, so you may need to adjust the volume to your hearing comfort level. I prefer the full screen edition over the wide screen because I would rather see the actors close up instead of smaller and further away.This has always been one of my favorite movies.
