Hungry for more Hunger Games!
My 10 year old granddaughter has discovered the Hunger Games and has been reading every day! Great content for discussion and thought provoking topics. What ifs....

Easy reading story with well planned plot lines. It will make you angry.
Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire, would have liked nothing more than for her fire to have been quenched and to just return home to take care of her younger sister. Yet she un intentionally started a rebellion against an evil totalitarian state and was placed at the for front as the rebellions spokeswoman. Yet as bad as things are for the people, the rebellion is a terrible risk that had already failed once 75 years before and if it fails again the tiny portions of peace and security the people of the districts of Panem once had will be gone and their lives would be torment. The books had an obvious 1984 feeling to them and even though I felt some things did not mesh up well throughout the story (hover plane bombers slow enough to be hit with a bow and arrow?) it was a good story that ... Children's book, if you are over 16 prepare for disappointment.
The book may be worth reading once however, the writing is juevenille, and the plot is generic at may parts. The worst Part was the "foreshadowing" the book was entirely too predictable, I could guess the outcome of the story and many small events during the story well before they came. Additionally this book lacked depth, there was no real sub plot(s), entirely from one perspective, no side story, no extra element, simply follows around a girl in a fight to the death. On the other hand it was a pretty interesting concept of a post USA north America, it reminded me of elements of 1984, and Fahrenheit 451, but far less thought out and at the level of a freshman in high school. The characters were not complete morons as in other books such as the Inheritance series, the characters however ... Overall an average score because of the level of the reading and minimal literary skill needed to write these books. BORROW FROM LIBRARY instead of purchasing because not good enough to read 5 times like so many other series.

BEST purchase ever for my middle schooler ..... Christmas gift and she didn't mind waiting for it to come. Saved a fortune buying it on ebay vs store !!!!!! Really captivating story line ...... had no idea. Set was in MINT condition.
