Set it up a few days after delivery.. Birds just found it today, Grackels were the first to use it.. We also had a Blue jay, male & female Cardinal, Red Headed Woodpecker, & Chickadee visit the feeder that's very close to the water all in one day.. Hopefully they'll be next... Just read how important open water is to birds year long.. I've got about a 100 ' cord run from the garage to another green cord that at this time with the snow melted blends in quite well.. junctions are waterproofed with a sandwich bag & then I taped each end with electrical tape..overkill but I certainly won't blow a fuse during wet snows, deep snows, etc. This unit works well so far & was priced better than the rest.. Solid unit
A well made unit that has a thin profile that fits nicely in a shallow bird bath. Used a few rocks to hold down the cord and it fits well and stays below the water level. The heater works good with temps down to around 20 degrees but when it gets in the single digits it really can't keep the water from freezing. If you have temps ranging in the single digits or lower for longer periods of time I do not recommend this unit and you may look at getting something that uses more wattage and puts out more heat. Overall I am very satisfied with the quality and price and function of this heater where I live in the southeastern part of the country.A well made unit that has a thin profile that fits nicely in a shallow bird bath. Great features, does the job too!
I was a bit skeptical when ordering this heater but after the first few days in the teens my skepticism vanished. It is well designed, sets well in the birdbath and the Robins and Starlings love it, thats what counts!

Bird Bath Heater Works Great
It is 5 degrees in St. Louis, MO this morning, and the birds are enjoying their bird bath because their water is not frozen! I am so glad I purchased this K & H bird bat heater de icer. It does my heart good to see them getting a nice drink in this frigid weather. The squirrels are sharing it with the birdies also.

Awesome product!
This little heater is powerful even in my large bird bath! While everything else was frozen solid, the bird bath was a spa. I’ve tried others that once plugged into an extension cord didn’t work and others that only lasted one season. So far the extension cord didn’t phase it and here’s to hoping it will last for more than one winter season.
