    Must read!

    Renewed interest in the work since Tyler Perry has begun filming it for the big screen. Beautifully descriptive and still enriching, even after thirty plus years. I really love the way Ntozake Shange writes both of the exploitation of minority women and of their power within as women of color (e.g. through their strength, the love they have for themselves, etc.). So often, we are given the view of women as victims and it gets so internalized that we fail to recognize just how far we've come... [There are also light moments too as it is entwined with dance and music.] This should recommended to young girls of all races and backgrounds, preferably before they too forget.

    This book is for ALL races!

    I decided to buy For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow Is Enuf after I seen the movie! This movie was so powerful and actually took my breathe away. I have to be honest I'm not African American, but I really can relate to some of the storylines. As I read the poems I feel that not only can the African American race relate to it, but so can every other woman on this earth can too. Not only to African American women get beat, raped and addicted to sex so does every other race on this earth!! Thank you so much for the book, I love it!

    All Girls Are Colored

    I loved the poems! I have not seen the film but because I consider myself an advocate for the written word I suggest reading the book prior to viewing the film. The series of 20 poems is full of emotion. I would love to see it on stage. I hope the film does not ruin this beautifully written testimony. I would say "For Colored Girls Only Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf" is a sacred piece of literature...some pieces of literature just are... CM

    Powerful. Great value for the money.

    The poems are powerful! Read it more than once and get a better understanding each time. It is true that it is not much like the movie so don't use the movie as a quick way to learn the poems for school. :) You will fail!
