A humorous and insightful book.
'Bonk' is a fun little book that discusses the scientific reasons for sexual urges, and the scientists who study them. It also goes into some detail about the negative attitude these scientists face from closed-minded people who think anyone who wants to study sex must be a pervert. Mary Roach does wonders to dispel this unfair and harmful viewpoint and presents the sex researchers (both physical and psychological) in a very fair and humanizing light. Wonderful . Another gem from Roach.
Though I wish I had time to rave on about Mary Roach, I just don't right now. What I will tell you though is that this was the 2nd of 4 of the Mary Roach books that I have read and it is just as awesome as any of the others and in some ways better because, let's face it, it's about sex. This woman has the ability to provide the reader with the knowledge of a biology course through the funny, sarcastic, enthusiastic words of her own voice and writing. I love her books and I would recommend them to anyone interested in learning about their own body-- and everyone should be.Though I wish I had time to rave on about Mary Roach, I just don't right now. Roach doesn't disappoint.
This was the second Mary Roach book I've bought, after having read Stiff last year. It was not a disappointment. She brings the same crazy humor to her exploration of sexuality that she did to the study of cadavers. If you want a ton of interesting information that you may or may not retain, and you don't really care if you do, this is your book.

This book is so well written. I can't wait to read another title by Mary Roach. It is informative in ways you never thought possible. You will be sharing the information gleaned from each chapter with all you come in contact with. Roach makes it fun to learn!! It is a page turner that will have you gunning to dive back in and find out what else happens, or is possible, in the way of sexual anatomy, orgasm, etc. I highly recommend this to those who enjoy the wonders of scientific research and sex!!This book is so well written. I can't wait to read another title by Mary Roach. It is informative in ways you never thought possible. Definitely Interesting
I had to buy this book for my Human Sexuality class and was just thrilled because it received excellent reviews from people like AJ Jacobs and Peter Sagal. Mary Roach is funny and the topic is amusing. However, I will say that she tends to go off topic to the point where you're asking yourself, "Wait, what did this have to do with the chapter?"
