Product Information

From Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of Smile and Sisters Callie loves theater. And while she would totally try out for her middle school's production of Moon over Mississippi , she can't really sing. Instead she's the set designer for the drama department's stage crew, and this year she's determined to create a set worthy of Broadway on a middle-school budget. But how can she, when she doesn't know much about carpentry, ticket sales are down, and the crew members are having trouble working together? Not to mention the onstage AND offstage drama that occurs once the actors are chosen. And when two cute brothers enter the picture, things get even crazier! Following the success of Smile, Raina Telgemeier brings us another graphic novel, featuring a diverse set of characters, that humorously explores friendship, crushes, and all-around drama!

  • Excellent for late elementary and middle school

Im reading these graphic novels with my 9yr old and really appreciate this author! . The protagonist in this book has normal struggles of middle school and puberty and I have so enjoyed the way the author depicts her navigating friends and so called friends. Reading along with my younger daughter has been so wonderful as we talk about Raina’s courage and sympathize with her fears and worries. If you are an open and accepting others’ differences and want to be be able to talk to your children about some of these differences I highly recommend these books. Even though I have talked about gay people and my daughter knows many gay people and couples, having a character come out in book helps open the door to more discussion and ideas of compassion, acceptance and love for ALL.

  • Great books

My daughter does not like to read so I've been desperate to find anything to spark her intrest. She read "Ghosts" by the same author so I got her these and she's eating them up!
