George R. R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" series is about the best fantasy series I have ever read, and I have read a lot of books in this category. The characters are very well developed, complex and believable. It makes you wish you could meet them (some because you hate them and others because you love them.) The way he describes the environment, the customs of the people, all of it seems exactly as if he looked back in time to a medieval period and just described what he saw. There are a lot of gruesome descriptions of war and killing and all that, but also a lot of humor mixed in. Everyone should read all the books in the series... each one is better than the last, and personally I can't wait for the next one to be published!George R. R. Get 'em all! Read 'em all. You will not be disappointed...if you like the genre. Actually better than the Lord of the Rings series. More action and intrigue.
