    The Good: The science behind the principles in the book are verifiable. The book offers a realistic way to healthier eating in a manner that helps avoid the most difficult cravings. The book draws heavily upon unbiased research of others, i.e. the china study, as well as medical practices of doctors and chiropractors, in order to provide valid proof of the effectiveness of the principles behind the diet. The Bad: The primary author's beliefs appear to be drawn heavily off the research and experience of others. While this is good in as much as the research used is unbiased, it tends to make it easier to discredit the author in other areas.     This book is well written and easy to understand. The principles in this book are valid and make a LOT of sense. The testimonies are inspiring. This is NOT a cookbook! Actually, the book is based on the idea of consuming LIVING foods. That would be foods still capable of producing plant life, like fresh produce and nuts. I may not yet be ready to radically alter my eating habits, and my family has definitely vetoed the idea! Still, I CAN see where the ideas in this book make perfect sense for good health.   • A great idea by an inspirational author, but...

    I bought this book because I am a nurse practitioner who sees sick carnivores all day. Most of my patients eat meat, sugar, white flour, etc. and are sick most of the time. I know eating fresh fruits and vegetables is the best way to eat. I love the stories in the book. What I didn't like is the fact that it would be almost impossible for a working person to eat like that. I tried it for a while, but I found I really couldn't go out to eat. I mean, salad with no dressing only works for so long. The ideas are great, though, and what I particularly like about George is he suggests some cooked food at one meal a day. What I got from the book is that I should increase my fresh fruits, nuts, vegetables, seeds, etc. and avoid animal products. I have changed my eating that way. Overall I ...

  • Very informative, but not completely biblical

    I bought this book because I wanted to know how I should eat biblically. I agree that our diets should be mostly fruit,vegetables and whole grains, just like the book claims using the old testiment. However, God tells Peter three times in the new testiment that we are allowed to eat meat, it is sanctified by him. We just need to be wise and follow the old testiment guide of only 10 ounces a day, from time to time and never red meat (or meat with blood). In 1 Timothy 4:3 that in the latter days we will be told to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. It's a good book, it just needs to be read with discernment.

    A dear friend passed this book onto me awhile back: I have osteo-arthritis, blood pressure problems and a lot of inflamation. I found the material to be something we're all taught with the infamous 'food triangle' in our science and health books when we were kids. Little were we told the meat & dairy industries contributed so much to keep this pyramid imbalanced. They're still doing it, of course. When I began juicing and eating lots of salads, I no longer needed my blood pressure meds, I use fewer pain meds, and I am now a slim-trim 67-year old (131.8 lbs) I have returned to my gardening and the local gym.
