I hate abridgments. do not buy. It has 4 chapters missing
This book has chapters 10,11,12,13 unnecessarily omitted as well as large portions of the Introduction. DO NOT BUY IT BECAUSE IT IS A RIP-OFF. Look at the description....I bet it sates the book has 304 pages. IT DOES NOT!. Four chapters are missing. Chopping a book up like this is ridiculous and makes no sense. I hate unnecessary abridgments. Why would anyone take it upon themselves to chop four chapters out of a famous book. To save production costs, that's why...DUH!!!. I am no fan of Darwin's Monkey Religion, which sure isn't science, but I want the entire book, not a butchered version with important sections taken out. Even though the sites advertise it as having 304 pages, it only has 276 pages. It is very difficult to find the hard copy of this book in the UNABRIDGED form ... This Review is on the Ray Comfort (150th year) Edition
Darwin's groundbreaking work is itself very difficult to read. It's the kind of book that we all like to own but don't have the determination to actually get through, just because the material is dull and the language is outdated. This edition, the 150th Anniversary edition with introduction by Ray Comfort (available from his organization for $5), is no different. Science fans pick up this unique edition however because of it's creationist summary material. Now I know I'm in the minority, but the 50 page forward deconstructs evolution quite effectively, citing the major scientific problems with the theory (the objections do not originate with Comfort himself). Evolutionists criticize the author of this edition, the religious motivation of its publication, it's minority viewpoint, and the ... Darwin's groundbreaking work is itself very difficult to read. It's the kind of book that we all like to own but don't have the determination to actually get through, just because the material is dull and the language is outdated. This edition, the 150th Anniversary edition with introduction by Ray Comfort (available from his organization for $5), is no different. Science fans pick up this unique edition however because of it's creationist summary material. Evolutionists criticize the author of this edition, the religious motivation of its publication, it's minority viewpoint, and the surprising juxtaposition of this material with Darwin's (don't worry, Darwin's own text is COMPLETE & UNALTERED), but they rarely attempt to refute the (many) scientific evidences discrediting evolution, most of which are summarized in this edition (e.g., in the reviews below: note that their objections are actually philosophical/religious. None are scientific. This is typical.) Certainly, you will never hear this material in a classroom - it's "forbidden science". Therefore, get it if you are looking for a good summary of evolution's many scientific problems - (such knowledge should really be a required prerequisite for blasting any creationist). Usually evolutionists have never even been exposed to these problems - I know, I've polled both sides. Creationists naturally know the other side much better just because they've had the material in school. Here are some of Comfort's science-based examples: Why do Polonium-218 halos exist in granite? Why have no supernovas yet sterilized earth? Why are both the Helium and Carbon-14 contents of the atmosphere still increasing? Why has the director of the largest fossil collection in the world said he is not aware of ANY transitional fossils? Why is the salt content of the oceans so low despite the continual yearly increase? Why does human DNA continue to rapidly unravel at the ends (at a rate that will kill us after 100,000 years, yet we're alive)? How could man evolve when it takes 600 beneficial mutations per generation(!) to change from a chimp in two million years (then find a mate with the exact same 240 million mutations)? Why do the sedimentary layers have so few micrometeorites despite the present high rate of deposition? Why does the sun continue to shrink yet was 'perfectly safe' 3 billion years ago? Why hasn't the current rate of erosion rounded the mountain peaks and erased the continents long, long ago? Why are the the mathematics of evolution absolutely totally mind boggling (an EXPONENT! of SIX! digits!!!) These are a few of the still unanswered problems with what Comfort calls, the "evolution religion", that you'll never hear in school but will find summarized in this book. Get it to arm yourself with BOTH sides of the debate. (And finally, although Comfort's intro is virtually all science and accompanying scientific deductions, he does add a short religious conclusion, so don't be shocked and offended. I know such a thing can be terrifying and traumatic. Look, I recommend that when you get to the last page or two of the forward, just stop reading and run for your life!)

Steer clear of this edition!!!!!!
In an attempt to gain a better understanding of Darwin’s macro evolution theory, I thought it would be best to go to the source. I requested for my birthday my wife purchase a copy. Unwittingly she procured this edition. While the original text of Darwin’s work appears to be unaltered, but I have no way to be sure, the “Special Introduction” by Ray Comfort is nothing but a diatribe against Darwin and his theories. Why is it necessary to discuss, and I quote from the introduction “I will begin by explaining why Christianity is unique among religions” in this publication? Comfort then goes onto explain why Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam pail in comparison to Christianity. It astounds me the intolerance of the “Christian” community that finds it necessary to disparage Darwin as well as ... Misleading.
I did not like the creationist viewpoint introduction. It is out of place and poorly done. The book is not complete; there is a diagram missing that is referred to several times. I am going to find another copy and burn this one. And I read the entire book.

Buy Another Version! This One Is Bunk!
This version of Darwin's Origin of Species is a really good joke. If you read the introduction then you first are exposed to a variety of non-scientific analysis of evolution that is meant to deliberately mis-represent the science of evolution. Mr. Comfort (note he is a Mr. meaning that he has not received a advanced degree in the sciences) leaves out the many pieces of evidence that don't support his opinion and selectively picks pieces of evidence that support his opinion. After you get to past the pseudo-science Mr. Comfort then begins to accuse Darwin of being a racist. I stopped reading at this point but please save yourself the trouble and do not support this nonsense by purchasing a different version.This version of Darwin's Origin of Species is a really good joke.
