    Sas Survival Handbook by John Wiseman (2009, Paperback,

    The "SAS Survival Handbook" by John Wiseman is a great manual for emergency survival and living off the land/water techniques. Using back to the basics knowledge and a few well chosen tools a prepared person can increase the odds of their or a group's survival in any type of situation, anywhere in the world, in any climate. The book is broken out in to easy quick to find subjects with detailed step-by-step how to explanations and illustrations, which range from listing essential tools, making camp, food and first aid. The only negative is the book has so much information that the book not light or compact for a backpacker. However, next to a spiritual book of your choice, I would highly recommend this pragmatic survival manual to be a part of anyone's backpack. I ...

    Great diverse survival book

    This is the survival book to buy if you plan on buying only one. It has illustrations, great useful information, and has the tendency to spark ideas relative to survival. The book even contains some color illustrations for identifying plants. Most illustrations are clear with explanations on how to perform certain tasks like fire building and camp building. Also details on for how to utilize animals for food and supplies while out in the wilderness. This survival books meets all of my needs so I highly recommend this as the one book to carry for that "just in case" moment.

    Suggested as a candidate for "required" reading lists.

    Excellent all-round survival instruction. Gets people to think ahead in light of natural disasters as well as man-made disasters. Prepares for more than the stereotypical survival scenarios. Life or death survival situations can come to you, like hurricanes, power outages, earthquakes, and acts of war. The edition I bought was for my 12 year old son to read and put in his BOB. It's smaller than some of the older editions.

    survive every situation!!!!!!!

    This book explains everything from how to survive when zombies attack, to how to survive a weekend with your mom. Oh, wait, they're the same thing!!! Its no wonder then that the steps for both situations entail large amounts of canned food, baracading materials, and a single round of 12 gague double ought buck for yourself should the baracades fail!!!!!!!!!!!! "Upon failure, insert muzzle into mouth, and securely secure with surrounding teeth. Insert big-toe into trigger gaurd and begin taking quick deep breaths. Now you will see an imaginary bug on the trigger that you will proceed to kill with your big toe. BANG!!"

    A very knowledgeable and easy to understand book

    I bought this book for my bug out bag and to teach me and my family a little bit about survival. This is a fantastic book with easy to follow directions and plenty of illustrations. It will teach you how to survive in any country and just about any situation. It shows what animals and plants are good to eat and what not to eat. Teaches you how to build shelter and filter water. This is a great book not only for survival but also for knowledge.I highly recommend this book for any reason you might be needing it for.
