Product Information

Shape-shifting aliens have taken over the city! Fortunately for us, a trio of heroes called the Alien Busters have agreed to wipe out the attacking alien force. This Alien Busters team consists of the following members: a muscular man, an athletic woman, and a robot. Since each side-scrolling stage is filled with attacking aliens, players must punch, kick, and blast their way though them in order to advance.<br><br>Gordon, a tough guy with a bazooka, has a gunship for a special attack, while Karla has a flame-thrower for alien crisping and prefers to use a ballistic missile drop for her special weapon. Finally, Slammer the robot has an electric whip (among other devices) to smash aliens and can self-destruct at will. Special attacks can be done as many times as players want as long as their energy bars are filled. Picking up energy kits and health containers will help refill your life and special bar meters.<br><br>At the end of every stage, the game switches to a pseudo-3D perspective, where the action turns into a shooter of sorts. Players control a target as the game moves them through a building, and they must shoot every alien that emerges from the scenery. When this segment is complete, the stage ends, though some levels also have a boss character that must be exterminated. To take on these tough aliens, players will have to demonstrate quick reflexes or rely on the use of special attacks.

A good arcade port
As was the case with the original Golden Axe, this, originally in arcades, game was ported to the Sega Genesis almost flawlessly. Go in a journey to rid the earth of invading aliens as one of the three members of the Alien Busters team. If you look closely, the male and female characters resemble the Golden Axe protagonists and that is purposedly so you can immediately tell how you are to play the game. The last member is a robot which replaces the original dwarf. Gameplay is divided between Golden Axe like side scrolling beat them up, side scrolling "avoid the obstacles" run and chase and first person "shoot the aliens and save civilians" segments in which you can pretty much destroy everything in sight. You have your regular button-mash attack, the running attack, run and then jump and ... You also have a super attack (like tha magic in Golden Axe) which can be used as long as you have energy left which is left behind by some of the defeated aliens or easily obtained during the first person shooting segments, provided you destroy everything in sight to find it. If you lose all your energy, your characters will resort to very basic attacks with their now useless weapons which are even more hilarious. Attack animations, both yours and the aliens' are amusing and sometimes even funny. This is a lighthearted beat them up + a bit of shooter game, but it can be challenging at higher difficulties (you can bring a buddy for two player alien mashing sessions). Go hunt some alien scum and save the planet while having a laugh.

What a Surprise!
In my life of retro gaming I rarely find a gem that I never really checked out. Especially for the Sega Genesis. Yes there are the sleeper hits like Gunstar Heroes or Ristar but this was a name I heard mentioned a lot back in the 16 bit era. I LOVE THIS GAME! The pace of this game might be a little slower than action packed classics like the Golden axe series, but it really doesn't subtract from the solid brawler enjoyment. Alien Storm is a great two player game that still holds up for some brainless button mashing fun.In my life of retro gaming I rarely find a gem that I never really checked out. Great! A must have for Sega Genesis beat´em up fans since it´s an exclusive
This game comes right from the golden age of beat´em ups. If you enjoy the Streets of Rage series, Final Fight, Golden Axe and the like, this game is a no brainer. The characters have many ways to approach the enemies and there are "first person" shooting scenes were you blast away everything in supermarkets and electronic tech stores, plus some shoot-em up style stages, so this game gives you a lot of variety ! The only downside of the game is that it´s not a 100% straight port of the arcade since some stages look different (you´ll notice that right away on stage 1) but basically it´s the same experience.This game comes right from the golden age of beat´em ups. Alien Storm ( Sega Genesis )
This is another classic Genesis arcade conversion. Think of Golden Axe but instead of fighting Barbarians your fighting Aliens. It's fun and easy to pick-up. You have 3 characters to chose from. An android, male and female fighter to deal out havoc on the alien horde. It's 2 player also wich is a plus. It gets a little tough twords the end but worth the play.
