The black widow spider mates to kill--and so does the femme fatale of this noir thriller. Catharine (Theresa Russell) makes quite a glamorous living by marrying well and then carefully murdering her devoted husbands after ensuring that her name's on the will. No one suspects that the beautiful and affluent widow is actually a killer, as she hides her tracks well, using undetectable poisons. But her luck turns when federal agent Alexandra Barnes (Debra Winger) takes a closer look into the case and suspects she's found a serial killer. Soon Barnes books a flight to Hawaii, where Catharine's doing her mourning in the sun, and discovers that the widow has already gotten her claws into a highly successful hotel tycoon. However, Barnes quickly becomes obsessed with both her alluring subject and with the sophisticated businessman--a situation Catharine is sure to exploit. Like THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE, director Bob Rafelson's BLACK WIDOW refers to an earlier noir film of the same name (directed by Nunnally Johnson in 1954), though similarities stop at the ruthless title character.

Murder, sexy antagonists, a great twist at the end; great entertainment.
"Black Widow" has long been one of my favorite crime films. The copy was fine, with no scratches or glitches. I was fully satisfied.

Black Widow Stings You Good
Theresa Russell is beautiful as Catharine, the black widow who uses poison to marry and then kill rich men with no families. Debra Winger is just as beautiful as Alexandra Barnes in her own way in her relentless pursuit of the black widow. This movie is classic film noir if I ever saw one. It was a successor to my all-time favorite movie "Body Heat." This movie really heats up when the two women become so-called friends--one of whom is pursuing a man and the other trying to protect him from his doom. All of this is taking place in scenic Hawaii. "Black Widow" finds its charm in its switching back and forth from who you think will triumph in the end. We want to think that good will conquer evil, but you never know until the end. Black Widow
I like the movie because I was an actor in this movie. I played a cop in the movie and met all the main stars. James Hong, the private investigator in the movie became good friends with me and we corresponded for years. Danny Kamikona who was the Lieutenant in the movie and in charge of the investigations and also starred in the movie Karate Kid II became a good friend of mine. The finale of this movie was filmed on the Big Island of Hawaii where I grew up. Danny Kamikona was also born and raised on the Big Island. The great thing about this movie is that the Volcano was active and erupting while the movie was being made. They used the Volcano in the movie with all it's awesome power and flowing lava. The 2 actors I worked with are great and I enjoyed meeting them, knowing them and being ... I like the movie because I was an actor in this movie. Theresa Russell shines as the cold, calculating predatory Bluebeard.. who marries and kills for money.. Oscar award winning actress Debra Winger is perfect as Alex Barnes, the overworked, her brilliant Justice Department agent who is determined to make her pay for the ruthless murders of highly successful and wealthy men.. who’s only crime was falling for the Black Widow. It’s a modern day noir, with twists and turns.. as two women share a common goal.. stopping at nothing to get what they both want.. for Alex, it’s justice.Theresa Russell shines as the cold, calculating predatory Bluebeard.. who marries and kills for money..
