Fallout 3 is perhaps one of the best rpg games out there on PS3. It's gameplay style is similar to Elder Scrolls: OBlivion, with its open-world gameplay, its many quests, and its interesting quest plots. Fallout 3 exhibits a different leveling system compared to Oblivion. Levels are earned by gaining experience points, which can be obtained through completing quests, killing enemies, picking locks, hacking computer terminals, etc, as opposed to the leveling in Oblivion that is driven by leveling up major skills. Characters in Fallout 3 are determined by the distribution of S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats. S = Strength P = Perception E = Endurance C = Charisma I = Intelligence A = Agility L = Luck Each of these stats governs a set of skills, ranging from Lockpicking, Computer Hacking, Medicine, Energy ... The VATS combat system is fun at first, but may seem some what repetitive as the game progresses. The lack of variety of enemies and creatures in the game is a little bit disappointing, but the game is nevertheless worth playing. The different locations and landscape and quests available to the player certainly makes up for the lack of monster/creature variety. Fallout 3 is a definite must play, and its downloadable content that will be coming to the PS3 makes it even more so. Rating: 8.5/10 *All of the above is my personal opinion.

Great- but, grab the Game of the Year Edition if you can
This is probably the best bang for your buck as far as modern Fallout games go. However, you will be missing a ton of added content if you don't go for the game of the ear or complete editions of the game- things that make the game much friendlier for new players, and allow for a better experience in a wasteland world that's very scarce on resources. Fallout 3 very different than most shooters
I like the games RPG atmosphere and the fact that you can do anything you want (to a degree)when compared to first person shooters. VATS shooting mode is unique and slows things down so you can target individual parts of the victim with incredible cinematics that are both graphic and dramatic, fun compared to other shoot-em-ups but honestly not as satisfying as say COD:MW2. I found targeting erratic in regular shooting mode with a "too" small pipper. I like the kooky post nuclear war world and the rummaging aspect of things. I like the ability to gather some things without weight detriment. I like odd stuff that happens seemingly for no reason. I don't like raiders (so far) apparently you can't reason with them although some cower and run away. I like the pip-boy device and radio, gives it ... I don't like nightime too much as it is pretty dark (no kidding! gosh why would that be) but seriously just a little hard to get use to. I gave this a good because there are some glitchy parts. Overall real fun but not action packed which is exactly as a RPG should be. I call this a less addictive WOW alternative for one. Only played a few hours but it definitely draws you in and makes you think a little. Karma thing is cool. Recommended but only for older players and thinkers, probably lame for young kids and ADD, hyperactive types.

Good Game...Few Issues
I really enjoy playing this. I played it on the xbox 360 and I think they are about the same. I had a few issues while playing this though. It would make my TV reset for no reason. I am unsure if it is the game or the TV but it only happens while playing this game. The openess of this game is great. You start out and once you grow up you can go and pretty much kill anybody and do anything you want. You are free to go wherever you want. There are a few issues I have though. 1. Leveling up does not make it easier to kill enemies, they level up with you which means if you know what you are doing you can go anywhere and kill anything. 2. You cannot beat the openess of it. I was a huge fan of Morrowind and this comes close but it still is not as good as far as progression of your character. However, I prefer this game over Oblivion. I recommend this game if you want something you can sink quite a few hours in and hopefully some Downloadable content will be released that will remove the cap at the end of the game. If you have the choice between the xbox 360 and ps3. I would go with the xbox version for the downloadable content. But, this is still a good buy for the ps3.

Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10 The graphics are make you look twice – When you first exit the vault and see the landscape, you think to yourself “what next”? The graphic interface, use of PiP Boy and the movements really show that Bethesda took the time and care to make this well worth your hard earned money. Sound: Great – 8.5/10 The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. The time specific music, the radio channels, and the voice acting are all A+. The reason for the slightly lower mark is the ... The best, yet simplistic feeling is when you first turn on this gam for the first time, and all you hear is the old 50’s radio sparking on with the tube. Well done. Gameplay: Spectacular – 9.5/10 Smooth animations, huge world design, and interactive and smart A.I. This game can be streamlined to do the main quest, or you can help the citizens of wasteland in their personal affairs. The single player game takes a lot of chances, but succeeds, in making the player make hard choices and customizing the game to their own path. Some find out too late that it is important to make hard choices to choose which attributes to build up. This aspect alone warrants multiple play times. Some critics and players are commenting on the ending (no spoiler), but I must say that for the amount of customization a person can have in this game, it goes right along with the story. Replay Value – High (for a single player only game) 9/10 Even without multiplayer, this game has replay value with the limitless ways you can play as – via good, bad, neutral, thief, etc. This did not feel like an RPG to me, and was well done to the point that I am on my second playthrough. Overall – Near Perfect 9.5/10 I am not a fan of RPG’s, nor long drawn out games over 30+ hours, but I was swept away in this post apocalyptic wasteland. This holiday season is rough with the shear amount of great games, and this is definitely in the Top 5 for contention of game of the year. This would normally be a game I would run from, but I rented it, and then bought it. It is so engrossing that others will want to watch you play and help you make those hard choices. The game is not perfect, but close to. The story flows, as with the action, and it makes you feel as if you were there with your character trying to survive. It has elements taken from genres such as RPG, puzzlers, action-adventures, but is not pigeonholed into this experience and to say it is an RPG is gives too little credit. This is an experience that should be played by any hardcore gamer.
