Product Information

From his seat on a commuter train, a respected but downtrodden Tokyo office worker spies a beautiful woman in the window of a dance studio. Mesmerized, he signs up for ballroom dance instruction at the school, despite the threat of losing face by participating in such an "undignified" public spectable. However, he soon discovers that he has a natural aptitude--and a natural love--for dancing, much to the dismay of his perplexed wife and daughter.

    wrong movie

    I definately tried to buy the original Jpnese one. I have 3 of the american movies. And the communication about this movie,.... maybe wishful thinking....I thought for sure I finally got the original Japanese version. Unfortunately, I still don't have the japanese version.

    Light on it's feet!

    This version came out years before the J-Lo version and is head and shoulders above it. Without giving away the plot, it's a wonderful journey about self discovery. The lead character is one most working folks can relate to, trapped in a dead end job by an over bearing mortgage. Surrounded by a family that loves him, but can't identify his struggles. Tempted by his short comings, yet grounded by his strength of character. You'll walk away from this movie feeling...moved.

    Wonderful classic Japanese movie if you love of like dancing you'll love this even if you don't if you have a heart you'll enjoy this great movie

    Yes, We Shall

    Perhaps one of the best films I have ever seen. Please, don't confuse the new version with J.Lo and Richard Gere with this one, the Japanese version. For starters, the story makes much more sense because of Japanese culture. A man does not touch his wife in public, and it is unthinkable for him to touch any other woman in public. Hence, a part of the basis for ballroom dancing being shameful. Futhermore, the characters are a little more three-dimensional. They don't have the glazed over look in their eyes that being a celebrity in America seems to bring. It's a quite beautiful story, so much more interesting and so much more logical that the recent remake. If you've seen the newer one first, try and forget it. It ain't got nothin' on the original.
