This was a Good Buy
I did a lot of research before buying a new camcorder. My previous camcorder, which broke, was a Digital tape. To transfer an hour of tape to my PC took an hour. With the hard drive camcorder it is minutes. The available pixels with this CCD was high. The still pictures are at least average which is good for a Camcorder taking still pictures. You can take stills while recording. I REALLY like the slow speed feature. With this feature, I can have the camcorder pointed at my son in a baseball game and wait until he is involved in action. At the end of the action, I can press the record button. The camcorder will then take the PREVIOUS 3 seconds of action and record them into a 12 second slow motion with great resolution video clip. I also coach a football team - I wish this ... I did a lot of research before buying a new camcorder. My previous camcorder, which broke, was a Digital tape. I also coach a football team - I wish this feature would record the previous 30 seconds and I could adjust it to a 60 second playback. That would give this camcorder 6 bars for a review. This brings me to the one thing I don't like. After I purchased this camcorder and tried using it on football plays and then slowing the video down in my Adobe Premier Elements 4 editor. I could not get a "smooth" slowed down video like I could with my Digital Tape Camcorder. I found out that "all" the newer hard drive camcorders provide the video already compressed into MPEG-2 format while the camcorder with digital taped video is brought over to the PC as DV.avi format. The bigger file DV.avi format is better for editing in effects like time stretch. It is not a big visual difference, but it is noticeable. Since I bought the camcorder used on eBay for a lower price, I don't feel that I cheated myself on the lesser quality video after using time stretch. The good news about getting the video in MPEG2 format is that it is DVD near-ready. If you get a video editor for MPEG2 files, you can cut and paste and put together a good video with a minimum of having to re-encode the original camcorder file since it is already DVD-MPEG2. The quality of the video (horizontal lines of resolution) is better than my previous camcorder, but still falls noticeably short of the VERY much more expensive camcorders. Just to share some of the knowledge I learned; - This web site was the best for "tell me what I want to know..." type information on digital video. http://videoexpert.home.att.net/ The MPEG2 Video Editor I ended up buying was Wombles Video Wizard DVD.

Excellent camcorder , great for Video
Love the form factor of the camcorder. Looks really small fits perfectly in my hands. It has an awesome resolution compared to other standard definition cameras. The 15x zoom is not much but it does its job. 20x or 25x optical zoom would have been much better. The picture quality for still photos is OK , not great. The battery life with the supplied battery is not much, you might need to buy an extra battery for those long trips. All in all I am very much pleased with its performance.Love the form factor of the camcorder. Looks really small fits perfectly in my hands. Great camera if your looking to not spend much!
Great camera...my HDR-SR5 broke I could not afford another one so I found this little gem...it's quality is pretty much the same in SD with 9m in HQ...its small and very easy to use...I highly recommend this camera if your on a budget and still want a good camera..10 out of 10

Seriously. I use it instead of my cellphone to capture moments throughout the day. A+. It’s never going to replace a RED, much less a relationship—but to some extent, it works.
