Product Information

Mel Gibson directs and stars in this Academy Award-winning epic based on the life of legendary thirteenth century Scottish hero William Wallace. Returning to his homeland following the death of an heirless king, Wallace (Mel Gibson) finds the political landscape precarious. Edward the Longshanks, King of England (Patrick McGoohan), has captured Scotland's throne and threatens the freedom of all Scottish people, as tyrannical policies instituted by the English plague the Scots. Initially, Wallace is content to stand by the wayside, yearning for the simple life of building a home and raising a family. However, when the woman he loves (Catherine McCormack) suffers a cruel fate at the hands of English soldiers, Wallace takes a stand against the new rule. With his fierce patriotism and determination, he gathers an amateur but passionately rebellious army. Although this makeshift force may be outnumbered by the English troops, their desperation and love for their land surpass any military maneuvers, as evidenced in the film's breathtaking battle sequences.

    To stand against all odds. This title points to heroism in the face of the enemy.

    Great entertainment! With action packed interaction from beginning to end! A must see for those who enjoy gladiator type programs as well as the art of war strategies in the early times of history. The opportunity to see how military exploits operated with primitive means of weapons. Characters were very engaging, interesting from beginning to end.

    Braveheart

    For those who don't know the story behind the film, it is a simple but affective one. Mel Gibsion plays a Scottish commoner named William Wallace, who leads an uprising against the cruel and tyranic king of England named Edward Longshanks (Patrick McGoohan)to free Scottland from English rule. Very few films come close to Braveheart. It is perhaps one of the most inspiring and powerful films ever made. Mel Gibson could not have done a better job. He not only took on the difficult task of directing this film, but he also played the lead character. The passion and energy that he brought into the character of William Wallace is incredible, and watching him act out the role will amaze you.     I bought this movie because I am a history buff, and I am in love with anything containing Scottish heritage and culture. I fell in love with this movie the first time I saw it. It has breathtaking scenes of the Scottish countryside, heartfelt music, combatitive action, romantic love, and sorrowful death. The struggle of the Scottish people for their right to freedom is portrayed in this epic story of life, love, and loss. William Wallace looses his father and brother in a tragic betrayal and is then taken with his uncle and raised in a land not his own. Only to one day return to his beloved Scotland and its people. He is well educated and liked by some while others are wary. Wallace just wishes to live his life in peace yet the turmoil of his country will not allow it to be so. ...

    Braveheart defines honor and nobility

    This is one of my favorite movies of all time, definitely in my top 3. There are all lot of life lessons here, some that are just under the surface, others that are right in your face. This is my definition of a guy movie! This is Rated “R” for nudity, adult situations and graphic violence. It is a classic, and at 3 hours long. There is a great mix of romance and battle scenes, to keep you interested. It will someday, probably be sliced and diced for a “PG” TV audience.
