Stage play, translated to film
This film is not for everyone. If you love the theater, and would enjoy six talented actors in the roles of real-life innocent people falsely convicted of murder delivering interview-style speeches about their experiences, this film is riveting. But don't buy THE EXONERATED expecting a typical movie where they show, not tell. There are no re-enactments of murders, trials, prison scenes, or executions. There are simply actors talking about what happened to them. It inspires indignation at the so-called "justice" system, and whets the appetite for more information on the real-life subjects of the film. Unfortunately, this information is not forthcoming. The Special Features should have included pictures and updates on the six real-life prisoners. Instead, The Special Features had ... This film is not for everyone. Exonerated DVD just as good as the Live Stage Show
I saw a live production of The Exonerated in Edinburgh Scotland as part of the Fringe Festival two years ago. When I saw the DVD of the television broadcast I just had to see it in comparison. I was delighted to find it had most of the same cast as the production I saw in Scotland. But what pleased me even more was the telecast version was almost identical to the stage production. It was not a "movie" version of the play, rather a clever studio recording of the stage production. It's a wonderful piece of journalistic/documentary style script writing that has a fantastic ensemble of actors depicting a series of "true life" characters in "true life" experiences. If you have an interest in "cold case files", "court TV programing" and "true crime" dramas, then you have to add this DVD to your ... Truly a masterpiece, worth every penny!
This is a great, suspensful, and eyeopening film, It really made me seriously wonder about just how many people really have had something like this happen to them in the past and even in present day. I mean if someone could think up the idea of it happening to make a movie about it, then it could also have been thought of by someone that could do it.

A must see, you will be questioning our judicial system if not before.
A very well done, like a documentary. All the cases are similar yet very different from one another. The cast of actors is well beyond great.
