Elegant, slick, rendition of Agatha Christie's classic mystery novel in which on board the ultra luxurious Orient Express Train, a gruesome murder occurs. The man killed is a ruthless American who uses his wealth and cruel, gangster-style tactics to control people and events, to get whatever he wants. Somehow during the night, he has been murdered, stabbed many times while sleeping. His entire traveling enterege is suspect. By coincidence, famed detective Hercule Poirot is on board and is asked by his friend, and director of the railroad, Martin Blasam, to look into the crime. Due to an avalanche, the train is snowbound and cannot move. Another train with a snowplow is on its way to clear the tracks. Poirot in his extremely analytical manner figures out the crime and exactly who did it ... This is a real lavish and slick production in the classical Agatha Christie style. This film starred Richard Widmark as the ruthless, murdered Mr. Ratchett, and Albert Finney as the famed Poirot. The cast of characters and suspects include Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery, Vanessa Redgrave, Sir John Gielgud, Jacqueline Bisset, Ingrid Bergman, Anthony Perkins, and Michael York. Ingrid Bergman won an Academy Award for her role in this film. This is a clever script easily viewable by all ages and is sure to please.

excellent movie of Chrie's best book
Murder on the Orient Express is an excellent movie.one of the best i've seen in a long time.. price was good, very entertaining, and characters are very good. but Christie is a great author, and this version of the movie follwed the book closely.

Best Murder on the Orient Express movie ever
DO NOT ..... watch any other murder on the orient express movie. This is the best one bar none. Impeccable script, cinematography and musical score. It is a lush wonderful ride. For the first time the extras are well worth watching after you've seen the movie. This will be a once or twice a year watch.

There is Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Martin Belsam, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Richard Widmark and Michael York. There is so much talent assembled for this movie, it must have been fun for these professionals just to show up for work on the set. And, they work wonderfully together. Finney is terrific in his portrait of the detective with all his idiosyncracies. There is a murder of a rich American businessman, played by Richard Widmark. Poirot agrees to try to solve the crime prior to the Yugoslavian police get there. He undertakes the opportunity, and starts to interview the various passengers, some which are reluctant to reveal information, for personal reasons.His diligence in obtaining and understanding the clues is the core of the story. There are, or course, many people that he investigates that appear to have both a motive and an opportunity for the crime. Ingrid Bergman won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor for her role in this movie. Believe me when I tell you this is one of the very best mysteries ever made. No exaggeration! This has excellent acting, direction and plot. You really don't know the conclusion until the very end. And what an ending. An exellent Who-done-it.

Vintage Agatha Christie with an all star cast.
I love Agatha Christie, so I knew I would enjoy this movie. The all star cast was amazing.
