More than 300 F-105 Thunderchief figher-bombers were lost in the Rolling Thunder campaign in North Vietnam because the Air Force brought the wrong strategy, disastrous tactics, and an ill-suited aircraft. A Cold War nuke sled, the Thunderchief was as much the pilots' enemy as the North Vietnamese and LBJ's war planners. This is an account by a junior officer serving at the height of the campaign, breaking the unspoken vow of secrecy surrounding a new pilot's psychological gauntlet of fear - a moving testament to those who survived and those who paid the price of honour.

Item arrived much faster than expected, securely packaged so there was no risk of damage to the book, which pleased me since this book means a lot to me. Seller answered my questions clearly and and quickly. The spine was slightly creased, not enough to damage and effect the integrity of the book but enough to be visible on the gloss cover, which I hadn't expected, but I also know that Warhammer paperbacks are generally quite fragile so not too bothered by this. Highly recommend this seller

    Every bit as good to read as Thud Ridge; maybe even better.

    This is so far the best book I've read giving an insight to the life of a Thud driver during Rolling Thunder.

    f105 pilot story

    must have if you are a a scale builder of a f105 well written with human and mecanical information of the times (1966-67) I recommend the book but wish a little more pictures of the author plane.I read the book in two days, riveting...
