Uniquely fresh
From their name alone, you’ll definitely get a feel of how this band is. Panic! At the Disco, gives you a jolt of fresh new tunes, injecting a touch of electronica with your regular dose of alternative band music. You’ve got to hand it to them to be ingenious enough to name their songs with quotes from literary works. Deriving titles from the works of American novelist Chuck Palahniuk ("The Only Difference Between Martyrdom And Suicide Is Press Coverage") and English playwright Patrick Marber ("Lying is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off"), they’ve taken song title naming convention, to a whole new level. The artsy-ness doesn’t stop there! If you listen closely to the lyrics, you’ll slowly realize that it’s more prose than lyric. Though ... Though words don’t come out as smoothly as a well oiled love song, and you definitely won’t sing “Harlequin girls and testosterone boys” while serenading a girl you love – you’ll still feel the same passion and lust while listening to one of their love themed songs. Panic! may be grouped amongst ‘emo’ bands as their sound may seem similar, but their songs are definitely not ‘emo’ or angst inspired. More preachy than emotional – their first hit “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” is more of a statement to the dangers of gossip than anything else. Songs such as “I Constantly Thank God For Esteban” and “Build God, Then We'll Talk” take shots on blind faith and hypocrisy. Several of their songs also make references to the Catholic faith (it wouldn’t make me surprised if this band was actually composed of Catholic school boys) – which makes an unusual mix of rock, literature and religion. Different, but not too unconventional to be hard to swallow. Infused with unusual prose-like lyrics and non-angst, statement themed songs, Panic! At the Disco cleverly candy coats their offering with fun, youthful beats, and a bit of video game music thrown in to make it not-too-snobbish for the not-so-artsy. The whole album is worth a listen through – no skipping tracks here. Songs that stand out: the addicting and sensual song “Lying is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off”, “But It’s Better If You Do” and “ London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines”.

Awesome....
Okay... I don't get why people are comparing P!ATD to FOB... But, whatever. In my opinion they don't sound alike. Though, P!ATD is an awesome band; nice melodys, vocals, trumpet and violin solos... The best song on the CD (in my opinion) is 'There's a Reason These Tables Are Numbered, Honey You Just Haven't Figured it Out Yet', just because it's very catchy and it makes you wanna dance. Well, they all do! IT'S ALL JUST AWESOME. ^^ I borrowed the CD from my friend, and never gave it back. This is definatly a band you should look forward to seeing getting bigger in the next few years.Okay... I don't get why people are comparing P!ATD to FOB... But, whatever. Great lyrics and Even Better Sound
Panic! At The Disco's been garnering some great buzz and I picked up their album on the off chance I may like one or two songs. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself letting the entire cd run and not skipping any of the tracks. The only negative for the entire cd is that the dance break in the middle, while it works for a show setting, gets tedious after a few listens and it's the only track I skip over when listening to it. The lyrics are written by the band. The band plays their own instruments and as young as they are, they songs are brilliantly crafted and catchy to boot.Panic! Replay is the ultimate way to go!
I must say, for those that are interlectual and admire originality - You have got to listen to this group! They are just compiled with unique, yet wonderful lyrics that can peek the wildest imaginations..and inspire the closed mind, as well! Every song is deep, and sooo REALISTIC! The lyrics are blunt, yet unspoken at the same time. You will hear this group put themselves out there with realistic/graphical points & situations that are rarely spoken of, and they so charmingly do it! The sounds & lyrics are exceptional, uplifting, and ultimately inspiring! I have seen so many of their videos...and was drastically intrigued! They are quite confusing at first..but when you realize what they are implying - You will be amused with how they can turn lifelike situations into humor and ... I must say, for those that are interlectual and admire originality - You have got to listen to this group! PANIC!! AT THE DISCO ROCKS!!!
I love that it was a mix of different styles of music in the first half of the CD it was more pop-techno and in the second half it had a more classic sound with more piano, cello and acordian. Overall it was a GREAT CD!! and would reccomend it to anyone!!! The lyrics also just have a catchy vibe that makes you want to sing along every time!!! Even if you've already listened to the same song over and over it always seems like its new.
