This swinging spoof of Ian Fleming's spy hero features an aging James Bond (David Niven), reluctantly dragged out of retirement to chase down the evil crime clique called SMERSH. In order to confound the forces led by the villainous Le Chiffre (Orson Welles), the Secret Service enlists five other agents, also under the name "Bond," and all six converge on the titular casino. Meanwhile, Woody Allen, as the retiring secret agent's nephew, causes havoc at every turn.The gleefully chaotic product of five directors, numerous screenwriters, and the late 1960s in general, CASINO ROYALE revels in its psychedelic spy satire premise. The comedy features a legion of stars in roles both large and small: Niven, Welles, Allen, Peter Sellers, Ursula Andress, William Holden, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jacqueline Bisset, Deborah Kerr, and many more. (Apparently, Sellers and Welles despised each other, and Sellers would frequently not show up for his scenes.) Just to complete my Bond collection
I thought that It was funny and there was a plot to get David Niven (Sir James Bond) out of retirement to find out who is kidnapping or killing agents around the world. Confusing the enemy with other James Bonds of 007 male and female. Lots of beautiful woman who played leading roles in this movie Ursella Andress, Suzanne Bischette, etc.. A Documentary special feature on the making of the movie explaining the roles of Peter Sellers, Orson Wells, etc. Then theres another Special feature on the 1954 Casino Royale with Berry Nelson, Peter Lorre and Linda Christian. Casino Royale: the '60s version
My husband remembers the "original" Casino Royale from his misspent youth, and after seeing the "new" one, he wished that he could see the old one again. I found a DVD copy of it on eBay, and with his birthday coming up (for the guy who typically "has everything," or at least buys whatever he wants) this was a great opportunity to get him something that he not only wanted but had no idea was available. He was very surprised and excited to open the package and find a movie that was an old favorite. Casino Royale ... 1967 movie
We remembered this spoof when it first came out ... 40 years ago! Where has time gone???? After seeing the new Bond movie, I wanted to check out the old one for differences. I'd forgotten how PYSCHEDLIC this cult classic was! Interesting and innovative camera angles, lighting and pacing, but a lot of it didn't make sense --- unless the producers want people to ingest something illicit before they viewed it! I finally had to Google a website which explained the movie scene-by-scene. That helped a little. Orson Welles was awesome.We remembered this spoof when it first came out ... 40 years ago! Spoof of 007 but is not entertaining nor funny,
I have all the James Bond movies. I knew this was a spoof of the James Bond character but it left me wanting. It was campy but not very funny. I am pleased I now have it but I am sorry I spent actual money to get it. Someone else might enjoy it but I watched it once but that is the first and last time I will watch it. It was not entertaining nor interesting. Sorry but that is how I feel.

Somehow I remembered it differently.
The last time I watched this movie I was just a kid. I remembered it as being really a cool movie. I guess now that I am way older, I have matured or my likes have changed and I just don't care for the movie. It is made as a spoof and I get that. But it is still in that late 60s humor of Rowen and Martins laugh in style and it just does not work anymore.
