Reviews
I really liked this book and I am glad the children did too. There are a lot of good lessons to be learned from EJ and her family and friends., I really liked this book and I am glad the children did too.  There are a lot of good lessons to be learned from EJ and her family and friends., Curly, my 8-year-old bookworm, loved this book. The day it arrived in the mail I let her look through it. By that evening she brought the book to me to thank me and tell me she was finished. She read the entire book in one day and I don't think she ever put it down! She enjoyed EJ's adventures and the fun times she had at church camp. She told me the book was "funny." While I enjoyed the first book in the series, I have to say I found myself laughing out loud several times as I read. EJ's summer experiences are memorable and fun. I especially enjoyed her short snippets of silly daydreams interspersed throughout the book. I enjoyed the life lessons that EJ learned about trust, faith, and friendship and am glad that I can find books for my daughter to read that are humorous and fun while still promoting good values., I really liked Diary of a Real Payne: Church Camp Chaos, and thought that it was just as good as the first book! My favorite part was when EJ received her mom's letter at camp, explaining the reason why she and Dad were behaving a bit suspiciously. It's really cool how it all unfolds together, making you think, "Oh, now I get why that happened!" It is a super great book and I can't wait to read the next! Church Camp Chaos is awesome and I love it. Hip hip hooray for EJ!, This was my very first time reading a book from this series, but it won't be my last. I loved Diary of a Real Payne Book 2: Church Camp Chaos. I cannot wait to introduce my kids to this positively authentic children's fiction title., I love that this series has a Christian worldview.  The characters exhibit the qualities I want my daugther to want, plus they have fun and adventures along the way.  Next book is due September 2014! Great reading material is hard to find so don't miss these fun books!, This was such a funny book, and my daughter and I read through this in only one sitting, as neither of us wanted to stop. The characters in this book were memorable and we loved seeing what EJ would do next, as it was very unpredictable, and this made it even more fun to read and to experience. By the end of the story my eldest daughter was asking about summer camp herself and whether she could go to Camp herself... who knows! All-in-all this was a great book and we are looking forward to seeing more in the series!, Curly, my 8-year-old bookworm, loved this book.  The day it arrived in the mail I let her look through it.  By that evening she brought the book to me to thank me and tell me she was finished.  She read the entire book in one day and I don't think she ever put it down!  She enjoyed EJ's adventures and the fun times she had at church camp.  She told me the book was "funny." Great reading material is hard to find so don't miss these fun books!, This was my very first time reading a book from this series, but it won't be my last. I loved Diary of a Real Payne Book 2: Church Camp Chaos. I cannot wait to introduce my kids to this positively authentic children's fiction title. Why I loved this book: - I felt that the characters were interesting. They were genuine and good. Good in the way that you would hope those around you would be. (Even Cora proved to have a notable glimpse of goodness at one point.) - Each life had a fascinating edge. EJ, Macy, Cora, Issac, mom and dad, the grandparents, Susan and so on, they each had their own identifiable strengths and weaknesses. The character traits and flaws made them easy to relate to. - The Payne family closeness was real, not forced or contrived. I always love to see books with a strong male and female parental unit. The parents were of one accord regarding how they dealt with their children. I liked that. We need to see more of this type of parenting in present times. Also, EJ and her brother had a playful love-you-but-you-get-on-my-nerves-but-I-love-you-anyway kind of vibe. I so get that. - The book was funny. It was downright playful in the most charming way. EJ's imagination was rich. I loved that she still had such a vivid one at eleven. Surely that's rare in this day and age. (I'm kidding...or am I?) - Each chapter began with those awesome diary entries. EJ poured out her thoughts, allowing us to see who she was. Can I just say how much of a positive I think journaling is? No matter what age or gender you are, having a means to express yourself is always good. - I appreciated how the book was a compilation of unordinary events and actions. They all linked together and moved in a nice flow toward the BIG news (which, of course, I was not expecting). - I loved that godly messages and Scripture highlights were weaved into the story. It worked. It was not overly preachy or pushy; it was appropriate. One of my favorite messages related to Susan and how she overcame her fear. The Joshua 1:9 go-to was spot on. I also liked the lesson on pride associated with the snake and the alligator. The way the author communicated the lesson was humorous but just right for kids, as well as adults. - I loved reading Issac's prayer. Too cute! - The issues presented in this book would make for great talking points. I could totally see family discussions based around this book. It would be a good resource tool for youth group gatherings, church camp gab sessions, Christian schools, and even counselors/therapists to promote connection and communication. - I really liked the cliffhanger ending. The book concluded with a selfless positive and it was easy to see that a new season of growth would be coming for all. It got my attention, that's for sure.
