But he was an ambivalent modernist, like many intellectuals who were reared in the nineteenth-century South, he never abandoned certain Victorian ideals and values.

Fast shipping. Great packaging. Item description 3-stars because book is not "EXCELLENT" (pencil writing on pages, sun discoloration of text block head, stains on lower text block fore edge). Seller Comm 1-star because prior to purchasing I contacted the seller on three (3) separate occasions with a question about the HC and received no replays or responses. As noted there is room for improvement but it remains a positive experience.
