I bought The Cake Mix Doctor as a birthday gift for a friend. This is the second copy of the book I have bought.This book makes cake baking simple yet extraordinary. The basic premis of the author is lets start with a store box mix and Doctor it up. The recipes are easy even for beginers and the results will have people thinking you are a pastry chef. I personally have tried a dozen different recipes in the book and my family and friends rave about my cakes. Simple recipes and pictures to guide you along make this cook book user friendly. I recomend this book as a gift to the cook in your life or to youself.My friend called and told me this is one of the best gifts for the kitchen he has ever recieved.I bought The Cake Mix Doctor as a birthday gift for a friend. Great Cookbook
This is a great cookbook. I use it all the time for cakes to take to church. The recipes are easy to follow, and easy to make with ingredients that won't cost you extra. Anytime I need to bring a cake somewhere I pull out this book and pick a recipe from it. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes to bake but doesn't always have a lot of time. Apart from making it from scratch this is the next best thing.This is a great cookbook. I use it all the time for cakes to take to church. The recipes are easy to follow, and easy to make with ingredients that won't cost you extra. Anytime I need to bring a cake somewhere I pull out this book and pick a recipe from it. I was substitute teaching in a home economics class. I perused a copy that the teacher had on her bookshelf, and immediately became enthralled. There were so many desserts listed that looked appealing with a minimum of fuss. Starting with a simple cake mix, the variations were impressive. I started looking for my own copy that day. The only thing I did not like was that there is no nutrient information included. However, this can be figured out per serving if one really wants to know. Best book I ever bought!
The recipes are over and above any ordinary box cake recipes. Ms. Byrn turns each one into a masterpiece with very little effort! I have made so many of the desserts and have given them out and people tell me I shouldn't have gone through the trouble of making cake from scratch. This is high praise and I have to agree...with a little extra effort folks will think you are the best baker. What I like is that you can tweak the recipes to your taste and they still come out delicious! Not just your mama's boxed cake mix.The recipes are over and above any ordinary box cake recipes. Ms. Byrn turns each one into a masterpiece with very little effort!
