À propos de ce produit

Product Information

At the heart of the story is Ethan Pratt, who in 1766 moves with his wife, Epsey, from Philadelphia to North Carolina and then to Georgia in 1771, in the company of Quakers. On their homesteads in Georgia, Ethan and his wife form a friendship with neighbors Kindred Morris and his wife, Mavis. Through Kindred and his young Indian friend Newota, Ethan learns about the frontier and the Native American tribes who are being continually pressed farther inland by settlers. As the eight-year war develops, Ethan and Kindred find themselves in life-and-death combat with opposing forces.

  • Very Good!

President did a pretty good job in writing about the Revolutionary War, at least what was happening in Georgia and the colonies surrounding Georgia. I even wanted to write about an American hero from that war but being the "nobody" that I am, it would be a waste of time. The hero I am referring is Karl Frederick Fuerer. The trouble is that he was a "Red Coat" who was pardoned by General Washington and fought in the south on the American side.. He must have been pretty good because he was granted 4,000 acres by the Commonwealth of Virginia. He helped establish the first Mason Order in D.C. He founded the first glass blowing factory in Maryland and he published the first newspaper in Georgetown. One of his articles was his fight to stop the establishment of the nations capital on ...

  • President Jimmy Carter's Historical Novel

Former President Jimmy Carter has written an interesting historical novel based on the American Revolution. The book focuses on the South's (Georgia & Carolina) experience during this time period, through the eyes of it's main character - Ethan Pitt. I did find the book somewhat lengthy, but it did keep my attention. Mixed with fictional and non-fictional characters. I disliked how the main character (Ethan Pitt) seems to be forgotton for half the book. I also found the ending a bit puzzling. A good Winter month's read.

  • First novel by a US President

I bought this book because I am a writer working on a historical novel--which is also my favorite genre to read--and because, as a book collector, I wanted to own this particular title. I couldn't get very far into it. Although I have no doubt it was carefully researched (which I respect), unfortunately, the story displays many pitfalls of amateur fiction writing and, for me, proved a boring read. It is grammatical and correct but lacks style and the spark of creativity, the passion with which a good storyteller infects his audience and keeps us turning the pages. With all respect to the author, I can't help thinking that this novel would not have been published, given today's tough book market, if it had not been written by a former president.

  • Very Good Book

This is a great book. I have been wanting to read it. It is in very good condition.
