EDWARD SCISSORHANDS is a story about tolerance, difference, and creativity as much as it is a story of a young man's coming of age (the young man in question is, of course, a monster). A New Generation Of Fairytales
This one leads the way..excellent acting by Johnny Depp..the entire cast was great except Winona Ryder I'm sorry she's just not that attractive..looks kinda like a rat and she's too skinny..plus she's a horrible actress..I only know of two films she was good in.."Mermaids" and "Bram Stokers Dracula" anyway on to the review..a group of teenagers on the road to ruin one Girls Mother comes across a young Orphan not realizing he was made from machine parts she brings him into her home after discovering the one he knows as Dad (played by the late great Vincent Price this film was to be his last) has died of natural causes..she brings him home and what happens next is a pure delight..poor Edward tries desperately to fit in, but a series of mishaps and misunderstandings gets in his way..this ... A ONE OF A KIND FILM - incredibly fantastic & magical
An extremely original movie, one of my favorites. Tells the story of Edward, a young man with a kind heart, with scary scissorlike blades where his hands should be. He is incredibly skillful however and uses them to trim hedges, make ice carvings and more. Still, people are afraid of him (except for one young lady) and turn against him, becoming like a mob and hunting him down. He has to hide at times to stay out of harms way. The tender scenes between Edward and the young lady are magical. This is a beautiful film with the rare ability to see into the heart of the human character and portray it well. Superb acting, awesome visuals, very absorbing. If you haven't yet seen this movie, you are missing out!!An extremely original movie, one of my favorites. Fairy Tale Story With Modern Parallels
Tim Burton is a strange character, and he has a different sort of mind. But in that mind there is a lot of brilliance. He has brought us a lot of fantasy type movies and movies that make us just go "What was he thinking?". That's definitely not a bad thing as he has given us gems like A Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Big Fish, and Edward Scissorhands. Edward Scissorhands is a story about a scientist (played by Vincent Price) who makes a boy but dies before he can put the boy's hands on him, so he still just has scissors for hands. Later an Avon lady comes to call on the house where the boy, Edward (played by Johnny Depp), lives. She sees that he is all by himself, so she brings him home with her to live with her family. When I was younger, a family from Laos moved into our neighborhood. It was a small town with mostly white people. The town hadn't really had an Asian family in their midst before, and many people didn't know how to react. But after seeing Edward Scissorhands, I realized how this movie was similar to that. I got to know an Asian boy from the family who was the same age as me. Like Edward, he was eager to learn about all the things that were going on around him. He was fascinated with things that we took for granted. But he also brought in some culture to me that I had never experienced before like martial arts and other artwork that was native to him. To the few friends he had, he was a marvel. But to most of the town he was weird and an outsider. Sadly, the family left town after a few years, but the impression that he left on me was lifelong. Same thing kind of applies with Edward Scissorhands. He was a misunderstood outsider to everyone except those closest to him, and when he went back to the place where he came from, those closest to him were hurt. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone. It's a comedy, but also a sort of tragic love story at the same time. But it's not too sappy to be labeled a chick flick. It's not a realistic story, but it's a story that shows us the morality of how we should treat others regardless of how different they are.

Classic Tim Burton
To start, the cover looks good. It isn't ripped or has a lot of holes in it. The tape plays well. As for the film itself, it's based on an original script (a rarity on Tim Burton's resume). It features several stars who would go on to appear in another Tim Burton movie (i.e. Winona Ryder in Frankenweenie, O-Lan Jones in Mars Attacks). Edward Scissorhands movie
I didn't see this movie when it first came out because the previews looked too weird. After I'd seen Johnny Depp in other movies I decided I wanted to see this one. His acting was excellent for such a strange character. It's not my favorite movie, but now my curiosity is satisfied. So if you're thinking about seeing it for the first time, don't pay more than a couple of dollars to see it. I'll probably never watch it again and no way will I offer it to my mom.I didn't see this movie when it first came out because the previews looked too weird.
