This is how we feel about "Ancient Highways" an article unique to this publication.Our adventure tracking the history of the Ancients began in 1976. It was then that we discovered a US Naval map of the world that placed Antarctica at its epicenter. When we compared this 20th century map to Plato's description of Atlantis we were fascinated to discover that his 5th century BC account of the geography of the lost continent fit the modern map of Antarctica like a glove. And so, we were hooked on one of the most fascinating of all mysteries.It was the pioneering work of Charles H. Hapgood (1904-1982) that provided the insights that initially fueled the engine of our quest. His work represents a powerful paradigm shift. Primarily through his theory of earth crust displacement. The idea that the earth's outer shell or crust periodically displaces provides the mechanism that explains how Atlantis was transformed into Antarctica. The theory of earth crust displacement earned the enthusiastic support of Albert Einstein.Twenty-two years later Hapgood encouraged Rand to dig deeper into his own original research. They were both rewarded by Rand's discovery that the theory of earth crust displacement could resolve numerous long-standing unsolved problems in various disciplines of science. One of the most significant was an explanation for the sudden, global rise of agriculture at the end of the last ice age (circa 9,600 BC when Atlantis perished). In 1981 Rand published in the scientific literature using the theory of earth crust displacement to provide 'A Global Model for the Origins of Agriculture.'The second door of critical research that Hapgood opened was the detailed study, in his 1966 book, MAPS OF THE ANCIENT SEA KINGS, of ancient maps. These ice-free maps of Antarctica depicting subglacial features lent strength to our conviction that Antarctica has a far older history than is appreciated. Our original research into ancient maps includes our discovery that the 1665 Kircher map of Atlantis is a remarkably accurate depiction of a modern ice-free Antarctic.Most of our research and non-fiction writing has revolved around our key obsessions of Atlantis, earth crust displacement and the location of sacred sites around the globe in a pattern that we came to call THE ATLANTIS BLUEPRINT. But during the last decade we've been drawn to the rich history and colorful characters who inhabit the early chapters of the BIBLE and their intricate connection with Jewish folklore.
