Product Information

Paul and Mary Bland (Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov) are a dull but well-meaning couple, who more than live up to their surname. The Blands dream of owning a restaurant; however they don't have the $20,000 needed for the venture. Late one night, a swinger from the party next door enters the Blands' apartment and tries to assault Mary, but is killed when Paul whacks him with a frying pan. When the Blands discover the deceased is loaded with money, the couple hit upon an idea: lure sex-seekers to their home via a classified ad, kill them, and take their money. This way, they're not only financing their dream, they're cleaning up society! But when a locksmith named Raoul discovers their scheme, the Blands must make him a partner -- especially since Raoul knows that the "tasty" cadavers are being disposed of in a "culinary" manner...

I love this movie!
I bought this movie because as a child, my Mom and I used to rent it and watch it all the time. All I could really remember about it was that it was about a couple that slept in separate beds killed swingers and such and at one point ate Raoul. Well I bought it to give to my mother in a collection of old films we used to watch, and I decided to get a peek before sending it her way. I love the movie! My husband REFUSED to watch it, though. HATED it! Because the lady cheats on her husband throughout half the movie. I told him that in the movie, she takes a drug that reduces her inhibitions and decision making-skills. Raoul MADE her do it, and then blackmailed her into continue doing it. He didn't believe that, because he said, "I know what a Tai Stick is, and they don't do that." It's just a ... Odd but enjoyable black comedy
A cult classic, I saw many years ago and decided to get the DVD. Now my son is a fan as well. If you like black comedies and have an odd sense of humor I recommend this film.

One of the funniest '80's comedies for my money! This movie makes fun of the "free sex" days of the past. Swingers, S&M, and that scene are getting in the way of a plain and "Bland" couple just wanting to open a restaurant. The couple starts killing off the swingers in their apartment building. They plan on using the money they take from their victims to open that dream restaurant. They come across a crooked locksmith name Rauol. Raoul wants in on the action and soon gets in their way. The title gives a hint of what's to come. This movie is just plain hilarious.One of the funniest '80's comedies for my money! This movie makes fun of the "free sex" days of the past. Watch the movie, but don't try this at home!
I ran across this title browsing through cheap DVD listings on Ebay, and I decided it was a must see based on the title, which certainly didn't come from a generic title list! The movie really reminds me of the tone of a Robert Heinlein novel (even though the genres are different), because of the way these really shocking and offensive things are talked about in a casual, almost old-fashioned way. The characters are kind of caricatures, but they don't quite fit into the normal categories. All the seemingly normal people around Paul and Mary, the banker, a doctor at Mary's hospital, turn out to be crazy sex freaks. The professional dominatrix is a nice mom who helps Paul and Mary start out thier "business" (although she isn't aware of everything it entails.) And our course, Paul and Mary ... I also liked the irony that as Mary started pretending to fulfill the men's fantasies (before her husband kills them) and starts having an affair with Raoul, she slowly starts becoming the very thing she despises. The bottom line is, this is a very witty movie. Even though it's kind of obscure, I really think this is a film that everybody past a certain age should at least watch once.

Cult classic
We discovered this movie years and years ago and loved it. Still love it. Had to get a new copy! It's twisted, funny, obscure, and funny (Did I already say that?). It's also (now, after all these years) a bit of a window into the times.
