A Good Showcase of Contemporary Televsision Art and Drama, with a Caveat.
I was really impressed with this television experience. I do not own a TV, so would rent the DVDs from Netflix. My stance has always been that if something is worthwhile, to purchase it. (I do this with library books, for instance.) I wasn't alone in thinking Jessica Lange's character Constance Langdon was remarkable --she won an Emmy for the performance. This series is not for everyone in that it can be gruesome, there is violence against women, elements of odd metaphysics, the old "sex, drugs, & rock-and-roll." But I believe this to be a "today's classic" and for that reason purchased it. I know I will want to watch it again sometime.I was really impressed with this television experience. So so glad I bought this collection!
After being captivated by the first season last year, I knew I had to buy it as soon it came out on DVD. It was nice being able to watch them straight through without commercials, and I was able to get lost in its great story writing and become obsessed again right before season two started. My only gripe I had about the set is that the DVD picture quality was way too dark. I had to adjust my tv numerous times because the picture was too dark to see during the day. And come nightfall my tv was too bright. A fried also bought this set, and she complained of the same problem. All Scare - All the Time - Hard to Look Away: American Horror Story Season
OMG - The opportunity to own Season 1 of American Horror Story. I could not wait for this to arrive so I could immediately watch it again (and again!). The first Season was such a shocker and was so well written, I had to have it. So many little nuances that I missed because I was watching and reacting to what just happened and now I am able to see it all and enjoy it all over again. This is one of the very best horror stories ever. I am now looking for Season 2 to be released. I had a hard time accepting Season 2 because I was expecting a carry over from Season 1...then I started getting into it and could not wait for each weekly episode. As with Season 1, I was so disappointed when it ended. I enjoy the fact that several of the same actors are in Season 2 that were in Season 1 and ... OMG - The opportunity to own Season 1 of American Horror Story. I could not wait for this to arrive so I could immediately watch it again (and again!). Amazing as expected
Way better than cheap quality episode in streaming. Love it! Came in good packaging, the CDs were just fine. Totally recommend to any AHS lover.

Poor story design, execution can't save it
While the production is first-rate and the acting is good, directing can't save the lazy writing. And the characters come across as overwrought. The writers employ a lot of crutches, resulting in continuity errors. To be sure, some of the issues are because of network requirements, but some appear to be artistic decisions.
