So far it's Great but time will tell
I only had this reel for a short time but in that time it has performed like a champ.I also have the Daiwa Tatula Type R CT and this reel also has been a great fishing tool. I bought the Coastal for it's saltwater construction, I fish the saltwater flats of Florida in search of Sea Trout, Redfish and Snook and the Coastal has not let me down in that pursuit.It's smooth casting and retrieve is a blessing for those of us using artificial lures that has to cast over and over. The crank handle is large (100mm) and so are the EVA knobs which makes it easy to grab with wet hands.15.4 lbs of smooth max drag is plenty for bull reds. I have it mounted on a Duckett 7'6" MH Inshore rod and the pair works great together. It's such a joy to use I just can't wait to get out in the water and skips some ... I wouldn't think twice about buying another one, in fact I just might do that. Tight lines and don't sweat the small stuff.

Daiwa Coastal rocks! Lightweight and smooth. Great for both fresh and saltwater.
I wanted a reel that I didn't have to change hands with. It works perfectly, smooth, and puts more fish on the line purely because it is a left hand crank. I stand impressed!

Daiwa Coastal TWS 7.3:1 Left Hand Saltwater Casting Reel CLTW200HSL
Compared to my shimano chronarch & curado, this was slightly heavier. Felt more durable and should last for years. 15lb max drag is perfect for all around inshore fishing. I do a lot of wade and kayak fishing. A rinse after each use is all it needs. Paired with daiwa DXI specialty inshore medium fast rod and 30lb Ande braid with 20lb Ande fluorocarbon leader for trout and flounder, 30lb Fluoro for reds.Compared to my shimano chronarch & curado, this was slightly heavier. Best baitcaster I've ever purchased.
I have struggled with baitcasting reels for years. Every few years I buy one, try to learn how to cast it, and then let it gather dust because they are just so difficult to use. This is the first one I've ever used that I can cast with no difficulty. I still have the reel set a little tight so I'm not yet getting as much distance as I would like, but I am already casting much farther with far fewer birds nests than with any other baitcaster I've ever used. It also reels very smoothly, is easy to adjust and set, and even though it retrieves fast it also has real pulling power. I highly recommend this reel.I have struggled with baitcasting reels for years. The reel is great! After a few trips the retrieve seems to be r a bit rough ... inshore fishing for stripe bass. I sent it to get it service...BTW I clean my reel after every session.
