Good unit for the price.
The world is changing, these maps are not, so they are a little outdated. It's a great tool I use to save the battery life on my iPhone, and it being waterproof is great since I live in Florida and I use it primarily on my motorcycle. The battery lasts for many hours if you keep the brightness dim. In the car the voice activated directions and points of interest are always helpful. It's is a great value for the money. There are units with more features, but this one is inexpensive easy to use and waterproof and pocket sized so when I reach my destination I just put it in my pocket.The world is changing, these maps are not, so they are a little outdated. Garmin Quest 2 GPS highlights
I liked the small size of the unit and that the whole USA is in the system but to plan street to street with very specific waypoints it's best to plan and download from your PC. The unit's display is bright, but a sunshield accessory to improve visability when sunlight falls on the display would be a good idea; I often folded cardboard over the unit to improve the visability in bright light. However a GPS unit is only as good as the maps it uses and most US GPS maps are poor compared to European ones. The detail (streets) are often years out of date and though the GPS unit knows where "you are", the location of the road on the map doesn't always match its true location. This leads to the display showing you driving parallel to a highway (not on it) and lots of "off-route, recalculating" ... This leads to the display showing you driving parallel to a highway (not on it) and lots of "off-route, recalculating" messages even when you are on the only road for 20 miles (Yellowstone Park or on the road from Brownsville to Boca Rica). Sometimes the unit suggests you are on a specific street but you are on the next street along which is a map accuracy problem not the GPS unit. The Garmin Quest is also too keen to keep distance to a minimum, whether you set it to minimum distance or minimum time, sending you off highways and interstates through small towns with lots of traffic and road repairs. The classic "save time or distance" was while driving back through Texas at both Del Rio and Eagle Pass the unit had me heading to, and within a few yards of, the border to Mexico. Not wanting to drive in Mexico, buy special insurance and pass through customers and immigration twice to save perhaps an hour of driving, I declined to follow directions but the unit didn't want to give up and kept asking me to make U Turns. The unit does work as promised and I let it pick the route and guide me from Seattle to McAllen and apart from wanting to get me off Interstates and into Mexico it works fine. I think better maps and some smart programming code (fuzzy logic to match maps with reality, recognise that highways are faster than byways and KEEP YOU IN THE SAME COUNTRY) would make this unit much better.

GarminQuest 2 GPS
I bought the Garmin Quest 2 gps mainly to use on my motorcycle. It is small and compact and is fairly easy to mount on the bike. I have not been able to use it on the motorcycle yet as it is still winter, but, I have used it in my car and it works pretty good. I say this because I also have a tomtom gps that I use in the car, and I like it better because it has a larger screen and is easier to read. That being said, I go back to my origanal statement the Garmin is small and will work great on the bike it just has a smaller screen and is a little harder to read. A good GPS for motorcycling but....
...they are prone to antenna failures as each one of my past units has died this way, have a poor data entry system using a directional wheel over an alphanumeric grid and are frustratingly slow to compute the next event when used in city driving. By now though I have gotten used to the Garmin Quest having used one since they were introduced by Garmin. 6 or 7 years ago. I mostly use this on my motorcycle where I have a Quest specific powered cradle. The Quest2 is a bit frustrating as often the next event is very slow to recompute when in city driving where turns come up in short order. Sometimes I find myself pulling over and waiting for the GPS to catch up when I have no idea where I am like Wilmington, DE two weeks ago.... but that is another story. The weak point is the antenna. I have owned now 4 of these units and each of them has failed because of the antenna connection. Garmin has warranty replaced a couple of them but the last I bought a refurb for $285 and it has now failed which leads to this purchase of my 4th. I bought this one for $125 as part of a Toyota FJ kit. This is a bargain. I took the brand new Garmin Quest 2 out of the box and discarded the rest of the kit, The kit probably was not that popular to begin with as there are better GPSs out there that are far less cumbersome to enter the data and redraw a lot faster. Here you get a brand new one for $125 which is not bad. A new one with a one year warranty from Garmin which does offer excellent customer service. There is no way that I would spend anything over what I paid for this unit. I feel that I am somewhat stuck until I change the mount on my motorcycle to use a different waterproof GPS. I bought a second $125 Toyota FJ kit as a spare to have since they are new and cheap by being part of a discontinued Toyota part. Now I have at least a couple of years until the antennas fail on the two I now have. By then I hope there are more affordable waterproof motorcycle GPS devices available. I am certain I will be forced to make a change to a different model in the now distant future. Who knows, maybe the antennas are more robust on these newer ones and will hold up to the rigors of motorcycle use and be working many many years from now. I hope so. I hope this helps your purchase decision.

like the ability to unplug and take walking. Easy to program,read,size is really important. fairly quick re calculation time. already own a 2610 and was waiting for update maps for it. Saw this new product and decided to give it a try. glad i did. will still get updates for 2610 as it has features that i like also. q2 is great unit. will take hunting this fall, gives the hunter accurate longlat, important when crossing different hunting zones. garmin really did a good job on this product. Wish the case was a dark color though, when attached to the window the glare from the case causes a bright distraction for me when I'm in bright sun. will probably darken it with something msyself. just the top part. I compare it side by side w±0 and both give indentical readings..impressed q2 ... like the ability to unplug and take walking.
