Lightweight, easy to use
I wanted something for my daughter that my granddaughters would also be able to use. My daughter does only occasional sewing, and was easily frustrated with her old machine. I ordered this one because it was very similar to my own Brother quilting model, which I love. It is simple to thread. The drop in bobbin is easy to use, and doesn't jam up. The best feature for a beginner or occasional sewer is that it also has a variable speed control that you can set, as well as an option to disconnect the foot pedal and use the start/stop button. This is great for children especially, who may have trouble reaching the foot pedal and keeping it going at an even speed. My 8 and 13 year old granddaughters are able to use it independently, which was my goal. All in all this was a perfect ... Great machine for the price!!!
I've used this machine for about a week. As a professional seamstress who sews everything from bridal to alterations to doll clothes, I have used lots of machines over the last 30 years or so and find this one to be one of the best! I altered a knit bridesmaid dress and had no skipping of stitches doing the hem and I didn't have to use a needle for knits! I repaired jeans also and had no problem sewing over many layers, it never skipped a stitch!! And when I sew doll clothes, I like to run my seams together and they never bunched up at the start!! As well as the decorative stitches are really nice to add detail and accent!! It's easy to thread and the needle stopping in the material is really nice, especially when turning a corner! Easy To Use For A Beginner
I love my machine. I've never had a lesson or anything. I think this machine is excellent for beginners. I haven't used it much because I've had to have stitches in my hand after an injury. But what I was able to make was easily done. So far the only dislike when turned on; the display screen doesn't light up which makes it hard to see the automatic stitch width & length which is displayed in small numbers. But the stitch selection and needle position is displayed in large numbers which is clearly seen. I paid more for my Brother because of the covid-19 pandemic and the manufacturer no longer made the cs6000i. I still feel it was a good price for the quality of this machine. Brother CS6000i Computerized Sewing Machine
I purchased this new Brother sewing machine because I had done some research into sewing machines and needed a new one. My old sewing machine was over 35 years old, and even though it worked OK, I wanted one that had a few more "modern" features. The price was very reasonable for an electronic sewing machine with all my requirements. What I really like about this machine is that it has many features, including 60 different stitch patterns to choose from and several "feet" that are very easy to change out. The needle is easy to thread as well as the bobbin. It weights about half of what my old machine weighs. At this time, I really can't think of anything I don't like about it! Great for the price...
Based on excellent reviews, I bought this for my 14-year-old daughter, who loves sewing after taking several classes in middle school. It was an investment, but I decided it would pay out over the years in terms of productive spare time and money saved on clothes. She has used it only a few weeks, but this is our assessment so far: PROS: - Lightweight and portable; also easy to store - Easy to understand (she figured it out all by herself with no adult help) - Huge variety of stitching options - Quality stitching CONS: - The needle has broken once, and the fabric has become clogged several times. I did read in several reviews that this can happen based on the quality of the thread and weight of the fabric, so I was prepared to have these inconveniences as a trade-off for the price ...
