Product Information

G3, a guitar supergroup that features top-tier shredders Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and John Petrucci, is a guitar-lover's dream come true. The band's usual high energy is cranked up even higher on this live Tokyo date, and the amount of heavy riffing and blistering leads throughout the set is mightily ferocious. Petrucci, who rose to prominence in the progressive metal band Dream Theater, distinguishes himself here, and proves that his six-string skills are on par with revered axe-slinging of Vai and Satriani. In addition to some extended jams, there are covers of classic, guitar-defining rock songs (Deep Purple's "Smoke On the Water" and Jimi Hendrix's "Foxey Lady," among them) that add a dash of fun to the jaw-dropping pyrotechnics on offer.

    G3 - Live in Tokyo (2005, DVD)

    This is a great dvd to own, as are all of Joe Satriani,s cds or dvds, since he is the ultimate guitar God of all time, and probably will be. If you really appreciate true guitar talent, without having to hear bubblegum lyrics, then I suggest you buy whatever you can find as I did, with no regrets. He has taught many, including Steve Vai, another fellow finger flickering God in his own regeim of high class talents. I never get tired of watching any of Joe's dvds, which always blow me away. My favorite part of them, as far as the G3 concerts go, is the last part of the show, when all three jam to great well known songs. On this Tokyo live show, they performed: Foxey Lady, La Grange, and Smoke On The Water...... which give new meanings to the songs, and give them so much justice, unheard of ...

    AMAZING!!!

    I saw a YouTube video of Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai shredding on The Audience is Watching from this disk. I thought that I would buy this and check it out. WOW!!! I was amazed. I am looking forward to seeing how much my neighbors enjoy it.

    Stop The Muzak, I Wanna Get Off!

    After Petrucci's somewhat somnambulistic set, thank you Steve Vai for salvaging this dvd for me. Very tight band as well dude! And altho I haven't gotten to him yet, I fully expect to enjoy Satriani's shredding. And the jamming will be fine too, altho I do have some apprehension about their vocalizing (having already heard Vai and Satriani sing). Satriani's just come on--awesome opener!

    G3 - Live in Tokyo (2005, DVD)

    Last year, I purchased and highly recommend the Satriani Live DVD. The music is awesome, the HD quality, exceptional (both audio and visual) and most important, my wife likes it. Unfortunately, this G3-Live in Tokyo doesn't match the sound quality and HD picture of the Satriani Live DVD. When I need a pick-me-up, or I want to show-off my audio/visual system, I pop in the Satriani Live DVD. I've only watched the G3-Live in Tokyo one time. Let that be my recommendation.

    g3 ROCK FROM TOKYO!!!!!!!

    I LOVE IT !!! PROGRESSIVE ROCK IS ONE OF THE MOST GREAT MUSIC EXPRESSION AND THIS DVD HAS VARIOUS POWER MUSIC ICONS (STEVE,JOE,JOHN,MARK,BILLY,MARK,ETC..).I RECOMEND TO ALL PEOPLE THAT REALLY LIKE THA MUSIC TO BUY THE G3 DVD'S AT THIS STORE.EXCELENT IMAGE,GREAT SOUND AND BETTER THAN ALL "GREAT PRICE".
