Throughout the 1970s and '80s, professional wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (aka Hot Rod) reigned as one of the WWF's biggest and baddest superstars. Distinguishing himself with his Scottish persona (which included wearing a kilt and playing bagpipe music), Hot Rod changed the face of wrestling with his infamous Piper's Pit interview segments and a legendary feud with Hulk Hogan that led to the first-ever Wrestlemania event. The biographical documentary BORN TO CONTROVERSY revisits Piper's remarkable legacy with a collection of interviews, Piper's Pit segments, and clips from his most memorable matches, including appearances by Hogan, Ric Flair, "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, and Bret "Hit Man" Hart.

    Hot Rod!

    I would of liked to see more NWA history for Piper but all in all, it's Hot Rod and there's only one (thank God). I was so caught up with the first three Wrestlemania's...I truly hated Piper but without him, WrestleMania one and two would have never started what we have today...! He really put those "a**es in those seats"! Piper should go down in pro wrestling history as one of the most influential and creative workers ever due to his dedicated persona from the early to mid 80's. He helped re-create the industry; changing it from a very slow and overly methodical event to much more of a physical/entertainment event. Today's WWE entertainment is soft in comparison! There's little value in any of the championship belts, which is what opened the door for the great TNA product that ...

    Roddy Wasn't Rowdy After 1987

    If you're a fan of pro-wrestling from the 70's and 80's and were a WWF mark during the "Rock 'N Wrestling Connection" era you know that Roddy Piper was no longer "Rowdy" after his match at Wrestlemania III in 1987. This set has some great old footage of early Piper matches and Piper's Pits from his "Hey Day", but with the exception of a couple matches, everything after 1987 is just irritating. Piper was trying too hard after that and his "Fan Favorite" personna in the late 80s and early 90s was just horrible. When I hear people say that many of the older stars of that era like Flair and Hogan should hang up their boots I don't agree with them. Though Hogan's mobility isn't what it used to be he's still got that "It" factor that made him a star and while Flair seems to have a hard time ...

    Talker, Entertainer, Legend.

    Very good dvd of one of the best talkers ever. Match selection is good overall with the high points being the dog collar match vs Grg Valentine and thee IC Title match vs Bret Hart. The Pipers Pit segments were allright but nothing that you either haven't allready seen or care about. Overall, ths is a good one to ad to yourr collection. I give it a B+

    Don't throw rocks at a guy that's got a Machine Gun!!!

    This DVD set is GREAT. It's the life story, and best matches of one of Sports Entertainment's most popular, controversial, and influencial stars, Rowdy Roddy Piper. This DVD set starts with Roddy talking about growing up in a Youth Hostel, how he was introduced to Pro Wrestling, getting beat in record time by Larry Hennig, going from territory to territory, his time in Portland, meeting Ric Flair, going to Mid-Atlantic and the NWA, Starrcade '83 and Wrestling's first ever Dog Collar match with Piper and Greg Valentine, leaving the NWA for the WWF, the debut of Piper's Pit, his friendship and almost brotherhood with Bob Orton, his rebellious nature, his real life feud with Mr. T, leaving wrestling to be an actor, coming back to the WWF, his time doing commentary, his time as ...
