The Hot Zone is as descriptive as Ground Zero.
Most informative TRUE relating of deadly pandemic virus' beginning with the birthplace of EBOLA. Mr. Preston is the world authority but tells the progression through the years as a master story teller. Do not begin this literally journey lightly. It grips you in the first chapter and never lets go. I read this book when it first came out in 1994. So with all the confusion about the current Covid crises,I bought 6 copies for my family, to guide them in understanding. The events take place from 1967-1993, this masterpiece was published in 1994. it is just as terrifying a read today.Most informative TRUE relating of deadly pandemic virus' beginning with the birthplace of EBOLA. I purchased this book because my son, Kevin, recommended it during a conversation we were having about the Bible, a series of movies based on Tim Lahaye's "Left Behind" series, and military facilities near Washington, DC. That may sound a bit discombobulated, but three of my four children have served in the military - we are Christians - we love to read - and we talk about everything...lol. eBay is my first source for looking for items I wish to purchase and I found the book on my first search. The seller was exceptional! The book was exactly as it was described in the listing, the packaging was good, and the book arrived in less than a week. I haven't had time to read this book yet, I ordered it right before Christmas. So...I looked up a link describing the genre, the content, and the ... The Hot Zone: A terrifying true story
This is a great book. It gives people an indept look at a devistating virus; ebola. It is very descriptive and really helps us understand the types of potential illnesses live out in the natural world. We all think that we live in this perfect world, free of harm, but on the contrary there are many microscopic enemies that are just looking for a host. And can essentially kill us within a short period of time. I definately recommend this book to anyone who doesn't have a weak stomach!This is a great book. It gives people an indept look at a devistating virus; ebola. It is very descriptive and really helps us understand the types of potential illnesses live out in the natural world. We all think that we live in this perfect world, free of harm, but on the contrary there are many microscopic enemies that are just looking for a host. And can essentially kill us within a short period of time. I definately recommend this book to anyone who doesn't have a weak stomach!

Fascinating Read
The story is captivating, covering the science and community response to an Ebola crisis that occurred in Reston. It is well-written too. Giving 4 stars because it does dwell too long on one story.
