Product Information

How many people would kill to be a bestselling novelist? Especially one like Janet Evanovich.Writers want to know how a bestselling author thinks, writes, plans, and dreams her books. And they are primed for a book from Janet Evanovich that tells, in a witty Q&A format: - How she comes up with such remarkable characters - How she nails the perfect name every time - How she finds out insider details - Just how she sets up those masterful plots - What the life of a full-time writer is really like - What she'd tell an aspiring author about the publishing industry - And much, much more How I Write details the elements of writing and publishing a novel, and addresses all categories of fiction-from mystery/thriller/action titles to romance; from stand-alone narratives to series. It offers practical and inspiring advice on such subjects as structuring a plot and handling rejection. And it combines one of today's most successful fiction writers with Ina Yalof, a published non-fiction writer who teaches creative fiction. HOW I WRITE is the perfect reference for anyone looking to improve their writing, and for those fans who are hungry to find out more about just how Janet Evanovich ticks.

  • Fun and Informative

If you like this author (and Stephanie Plum), this has her easy, first-person style that has some useful insight about the mechanics and style that make a best seller. Easy reading; I bought a second one for another writer.

  • Janet Evanovich's How I Write

This is a good source on the components on 'how to write' by an author I respect. As a mother of four , this lady and I have both been under pressure, raising our families (and all that comes with that) trying to live the dream while simultaneously conquering self-doubt during the writing process. She is part motivational and practical about her methodology on how she writes. I bought it to fine tune the process. The outline she mentions was especially helpful. Even with the story firmly in mind, characters and introductions become fuzzy after a hundred pages!

  • Multi-Purpose Book

I fool myself, thinking that I can become a writer so as part of my delusion, I buy books on how to write. Like almost everyone, I love to read a Janet Evanovich book;they are candy for my soul and not a calorie in sight. When I saw "How I Write" I jumped at the opportunity to buy a copy. I was not the slightest bit disappointed. Not only does it contain tons of good, no, excellent, writing advice, it's written in such a way that you are entertained at the same time. At no time does Ms. Evanovich talk down to us nor does she complicate matters. Her advice is not only wise, but it's practical, written in such a way that it's like sitting over a cup of coffee with a good friend. There are several chapters at the end of the book on publishing. I was so elevated by her advice there that I was ...

"How I Write" By Janet Evanovich is a good read.It is funny, entertaining and educational. It is written with some of the fun sarcasm we have come to expect from Janet Evanovich. I found it enlightening and learned quite a few things I did not know about writting. It makes you want to write!!!! If you are a writer already it can strengthen your writing. If you are not a writer it makes you want to write write write ! At least it did for me !!! It was also enjoyable getting to know Janet a little better. I love her Gramdma Mazur character so I enjoyed learning how she was created. Janet is a terrific writer! Enjoy

  • A BOOK WORTH BUYING

This is pure Janet Evanovich. She writes this how to book much in the style of her Stephanie Plum books and her other mystery/romance books. She's witty, but also informative. This book will be helpful to beginning fiction writers and even established writers who want to improve their writing--or switch from non-fiction to fiction. She doesn't just tell you how to write, she shows you how to write. And, if you've never read any of her Stephanie Plum books, you'll want to after reading this book
