  • Kate is great

I have 8 or 9 of Kate Atkinson books. Compelling character development with just the right amount of mystery. I'm reading in chronological order. Love the Jackson character in four of the books.

  • Behind the Scenes at the Museum review by Barbara, 60

I belong to a small book club, and we decided on the book because one of the members bought it, based upon the author. We had been having a so-so run with books, often being disappointed in the top 10, so were ready for something different. 4 out of 5 really loved the book, including myself. It is family disfunction at its finest and funniest, but with an insight as to why and how it develops. The prose is very readable and fresh. She has a terrific sense of the absurd, such that at times I simply laughed out loud. It is also profoundly sad at times. Most of us thought that it had a very satisfactory ending, which to me is important. A number of books I loved reading really let me down at the end.

  • THE BEST!

Kate Atkinson is the best writer! this is her first book and I'm hooked. Lovable, interesting characters and great stories with great humor. My favorites are her series of mysteries starting with "Case Histories" which were made into movies for BBC and recently shown on PBS' Mystery.

  • What's the connection?

I loved the characters and the truth in Kate Atkinson's quote '"The past is what you leave behind in life." Nonsense...the past's what you take with you."' How true.
