Extreme's best and it stands the test of time
When this album first came out in 1992, I hated it! Not because it wasn't good but because I was used to Extreme's first two albums, especially Pornograffiti, that absolutely rocked hard. This comes out and I, like most critics, weren't ready to see a 'hair band' touch on a serious subject like war, peace, and the ramifications involved plus Extreme doing a concept album was a big risk. III Sides is a three part act that deals with everything from why we wage war, the ramifications of war, and even questions these things to God and at times questions the very existence of God and why He would allow such things to happen. Yours, Mine, and The Truth are the three parts of this epic album that tries to answer these questions. Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt were TOTALLY on when the ... When this album first came out in 1992, I hated it! Not because it wasn't good but because I was used to Extreme's first two albums, especially Pornograffiti, that absolutely rocked hard. Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt were TOTALLY on when the created this masterpiece and considering what is happening in our world today, the album holds as much relevance today as it did when it first came out. It is deep, though-provoking, and offers perspective on subjects that you wouldn't really expect from what the critics called a 'hair metal' band. There is a Japan release that has a 3" mini disc with the song, "Don't Leave Me Alone" which is a pray to God and I really wish they could have included this on the main disc itself as it adds to the disc that much more. In my opinion, Extreme really needs to re-release this on it's 20th anniversary release date in it's entirety along with a concert from that era. I feel it would sell tremendously. Do yourself a favor and get this album, you will not be disappointed!

In the format for writing this review it tells me to answer this question: "Why did I decide to buy this cd?". If you know of this cd, then you know that's a ridiculous question. This is the best cd of all time (any genre). Not that I only listen to 80's music. I listen to just about anything except for most country music. To answer the question honestly.... This is about the 10th copy of this cd I've purchased over the years. Kinda like a set of tires for your car. Constant use tends to wear them down. Every so often you need a new set. There's only one song on here that I skip over (Seven Sundays). The rest get constant attention. BUY IT without hesitation. You won't be sorry. If you don't like it.... Just keep listening to it. This is the best album of "Extreme".
This is the best album of "Extreme". Nuno Bettencourt is a great guitarist. I love him. He is my guitar god. I don't know why he is not praised so much. Maybe because he just serves his desire of creating music,not commercial music. He is too good at performing to care much about the market stuff. About Gary,he is a great singer and a great performer too. Those who look at him while he is on the stage always be stunned.This is the best album of "Extreme". Nuno Bettencourt is a great guitarist.
