The French answer to Ong Bak coulda been the final word, with superior production values and a serviceable if not exactly profound story-line (how much story can you get in an 80 minute film that's 50% action though?). Unfortunately it's let down by "Hollywood style" over-editing of the action scenes. David Belle & Cyril Raffaelli have *real* skills, and showing them off is the raison de etre of the film - so why chop most of the best moves into 3 separate shots, so we can't really appreciate them? It's a tribute to the performers and Raffaelli's choreography that they're still amazing to watch! I'd love to see a re-edit that simply removes the unnecessary insert shots and shows the moves in their full glory. Despite this objection, I still ... Good action movie!
This movie by Luc Besson features the guy who created Parkour, the stuff you see at the start of "Casino Royale", David Belle, and Cyril Rafaelli, the guy who fought Jet Li in "Kiss of the Dragon". The action scenes are awesome and well executed. The influence of movies like "Ong Bak" and many Jackie Chan movies are readily scene and the movie is bound to be compared to them. This is a good addition to any martial arts movie or general action movie collection. A high action movie that look like those japanese movie
Wow. District B-13 is one of those movies that plays a like a video game that you don’t want to end until you finish it. Filled with every cliche of an action film, and every twist and turn that you could possibly predict, B-13 packs a punch that forces you to not pay attention to its flaws, but rather embrace it as the next best rock ‘em sock’em, go get ‘em action flick of the year. America certainly has something to learn from the French when it comes to original stunts and fresh concepts that might ordinarily fall flat, but (in this case) burst with a certain kind originality that I haven’t seen in a while. The pace of District B-13 maintains its swiftness, so much to the point that your mind doesn’t have time to stop and pick it apart. Taking its cues from other films of this unique ... Wow. District B-13 is one of those movies that plays a like a video game that you don’t want to end until you finish it. There's nothing quiet about this take on "Escape From New York" set in 2010 Paris, in which the city has thrown a wall around the most impoverished, crime-ridden slum of the city and handed it over to the drug lords. An acrobatic chase through the crumbling slum that would make Jackie Chan cheer (inspired by a new, uniquely French urban sport known as Parkour that star David Belle helped create) sets the pitch. It escalates from there as ghetto hero Leito (Belle) and charming undercover cop Damien (former stuntman Cyril Raffaelli) are tossed together to disarm a stolen atomic bomb in the heart of the gated slum. The amazing thing about these two sportsters-turned-actors was that they did a fine job delivering their lines and keeping us riveted.

After reading member reviews I figured I'd check it out. What an action packed movie! This movie is the meaning of action. Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson and even Jackie Chan, yes Jackie Chan have to pay homage to the 2 stars of District B13. The stunts are unbelievable and 90% of them are done without wires. Actual athleticism unrivaled nor surpassed by anyone. Dubbed in English, this film is excellent. Never seen stunts of this type. My wife a Jackie Chan fan, as am I, both were wowed by athletic the ability the 2 heroes displayed. A good team up. Do not pass this one up. One actor commented he was there and witnessed some stunts and couldn't believe it. Extra features, though lenghthy and subtitled, are very good. Blooper/Gag Reel is ok.
